    Scully.

I know you work in a pediatric ward, but is there not a condition where as a man ages, the foreskin shrinks and hardens, forcing the need for a circumcision?

    Scully,

I was always bothered by that "argument" that you should look just like your brother or dad... that is how they talked my Step sister into circumcising (sp?) my nephew. She didn't want to do it but they "recommended" it because he would ask questions as he got older. I mean, PLEASE!

I could not bring myself to allow either of my boys to be snipped - although the grandparents were very upset about it. Neither have ever had infections or problems.

On a personal note - I have had both snipped & unsnipped sex (and sex where I wanted to snip the unsnipped) - I don't believe a little bit of attached skin makes a big difference in the whole scheme of things if the partners know what they are doing.

I chose not to circumcise Ant, he has never had any problems as far as health etc. I taught him how to clean himself correctly from the time he was little. I told him when he was older why we chose to not have the procedure done and that if he wanted to change it he could, he opted not to.

I wish I was uncut too!

not me! never ever ever would i want to be uncut, it's sooooo much nicer like this, and unlike most, i actually remember the agony of the surgery as i was about 7 years old when it was done.

i also think that since it's probably the oldest surgery known to man, the chances of it getting messed up would be slim.

Hey Scully...perhaps some of us w/the "mark of the scalpel" make up for desensitized ala fabric syndrome w/very nasty minds. Its amazing how the human adapts to its traumatic environment...*LOL*

    Sincerely,

My husband wanted our son circumcised. His argument was the "look like dad" and that he wanted our son to have all his career options open when he was older. I didn't really have an opinion one way or other, although the whole procedure is not what a new mom would wish on her baby, but i let the partner with the penis make the call on that subject.

xjw_b12: do a google search using the term priapism.

XJW_B12: that condition that you mentioned is called: Phimosis.

Great comments, and it's interesting to read peoples' comments for/against.

I mean, it's too late for me.....but, my nephew.....he's going to remain intact. That's great!

We live in modern times, and except for some religious practices, honestly, I don't see the need of it anymore. Of course, if it's a serious condition where the options indicate the proceedure, otherwise, as I've said before:

'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.
