For those who have children over the age of 21. Did yours suddenly think they were cool and new everything after their birthday? Is this a normal way they act or is my daughter just freaking out

Doesn't that happen at age 13 instead of 21? Mom says it did for me.

Stacy: Well ya that too....but Mel has been great for a little over 2 years but relapsed
Also I find that is more with girls then boys with boys it is about 15 to 18

Yes. But earlier, like Stacy said...
LOL
My son will be 21 in a few weeks, but has been on his own since 17.
I find their individualism liberating. I taught him all I know, fed him well, and will remain his biggest fan.
But he sees the world differently in terms of where he lives, how he lives, and with whom he lives..... I accept his decisions albeit I don't agree with him.
He hates for me to opine on his life decisions....so I don't.....very hard for a parent to do after so many years....LOL

Both of my girls went through that about 15-17. One is still in it I think and she is 27.
I think they get over it only after they have kids of their own

sounds exactly like my youngest.
I suspect that the harder the parents try to give them less to rebel about the more they rebel against everything

LL I don't understand it we raised both the kids the same, but with Mel simple things like picking up or for instance I asked her to please set the table for Thanksgiving dinner OHMYGOD you would think I asked her to scrub a toilet
All I know is I haven't seen Mak and it feels like my heart is ripped out of my chestbut I will not allow her inappropriate behavior just to see my granddaughter...I will not be held hostage by my love for either of them. Mel has to learn that she has treated us horribly but also James and none of us deserve it.

Life has kicked our 23 year old squarely in the teeth. Making $20.00 and hour and still having trouble meeting his bills...he's beginning to take the things I said to him in his youth a bit more seriously.
