Yeru tee heee LOL I guess that is my peeve and what irks my liver. If everyone that focused on the treatment of animals focused instead on child abuse and other issues what a great world we might have.

I mean I love animals I really do but taking care of human beings should be the priority.

I have a problem when People With An Agenda promote their cause by working on people's emotions, fear, and misinformation. Such misinformation hurts people.

My daughter was convinced by the PETA media mill that cow's milk was bad for my granddaughter. I and my son-in-law argued with my girl until we were blue in the face. Where my son-in-law comes from, milk consumption is integral to their culture. His tribe is one of the tall tribes of Africa. I figure genetics and milk has a lot to do with their amazing growth. And here is my darling granddaughter, growing like a weed, always hungry, and mom thinks milk is bad for her.

Can I sue PETA if my granddaughter's growth is stunted?

Jgnat: Geesh I hope she gets some correct info.

I never kept my kids from drinking it. GOD Ant when thru so friggin much milk when he lived at home. Thunder loves milk and he has always been healthy. I despise the fear as you said I can remember the craze to have no friggin salt in anything and when eggs were akin to oval death.I wish that somehow in our world we could get accurate information that is driven by someone's agenda.

I nursed botht the kids and was on vitamins but I am MAJORLY Lactose intolerant so I try to avoid it as much as I can.

    Hi Stephanus,

    Thanks for the info.

    How do arteries get clogged?

    From too much cholesterol.

Where only does one ingest cholesterol from?

By eating anything with a brain. Vegans never ingest cholesterol.

    Not true:

As the following list reveals, in just the last five years, new research has uprooted many of the most widely cherished and long-held beliefs about the relationship between various foods and disease:

Fiber and Colon Cancer "?no association between the intake of dietary fiber and the risk of colorectal cancer." (NEJM, 1999) (5)

Eggs and Hypercholesterolemia "? no evidence of an overall significant association between egg consumption and risk of CHD in men or women." (JAMA 1999) (6)

Sugar and Diabetes "?the most widely held belief about the nutritional treatment of diabetes has been that simple sugars should be avoided and replaced with starches? There is, however, very little scientific evidence that supports this assumption." (Diabetes Care) (7)

Salt and Hypertension "?although diet can strongly influence blood pressure, salt may not be a player." (Science 1998 ) (8)

Fat and Breast Cancer " We found no evidence that lower total intake of fat or specific major types of fat was associated with a decreased risk of breast cancer." (JAMA 1999) (9)

However, I still say what I stated is true. When a person has a heart attack or high cholesterol, the first course of action is to alter the diet to get that cholesterol down. Granted, we do produce our own cholesterol (having a brain), but to eat creatures that produce it too can give us high cholesterol. Except maybe for fish and the attendant fish oil which seems to be good for cholesterol.

Veganism and, to some extent, vegetarianism also attract a cult-like following, not dissimilar to the WBS.

Their Bible is scientific studies and they are often only quoting the part of the research data that fits their faith while conveniently forgetting to include results that are contrary to their health doctrine.

They are also fond of quoting poor quality research that backs their claims.

Like the WBS, if you don't support their claims they will quote you out of context and if you do support them they will quote you regardless of your background and qualifications, so if you ever consider joining one of these cults, you should fully investigate all quotations of studies they produce to support their doctrine.

    ------------------------------------------------------

If there are foods to be avoided, they will be modern refined and processed foods that form a large part of many vegan/vegetarian diets, not the age old, non processed meat and veg that the human race was evolved/designed to thrive on.

I should also note that some vegans I have talked to, appear to be using veganism to cover up an eating disorder.

    Anti-PETA Ads Win Popular Acclaim
    Posted On December 12, 2003

Last week the Fox News Channel aired two Center for Consumer Freedom commercials skewering People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for its association with terrorism and other violence. We have received hundreds of email responses from the general public -- almost all of them positive -- and we wanted to share a few with you. Some were personal, from people with direct experience dealing with animal rights terrorism. Others were from animal lovers and vegetarians who detest PETA for casting them in a bad light. But most were from ordinary Americans whom PETA has managed to anger and alienate over the years.

The following note comes to us from a retired college professor who was targeted by animal rights lunatics:

"I was very pleased -- moved almost to the point of tears -- when I saw your ads against PETA last night on Fox TV (I really liked the one showing Rod Coronado!) ... I myself am a former scientist, who considered himself one of the top 10 targets in the country of an animal rights attack for the past 25 years ... The biggest problem we face is ignorance of what and who PETA are. Your ads are a Godsend -- and are what prompted me to contribute my $25 to your cause. Go you!"
The next message came from a Los Angeles firefighter:
"When [radical activists] bomb or commit arson of a structure that's their target, firefighters that respond and attempt rescues and firefighting operations can and have been killed for their cause ... Firefighters enter the burning structure to rescue anyone or even animals, then in a week we all attend funerals!!! Yes people should know about these VERY DANGEROUS PEOPLE. Thank you."
The next batch of emails came from people who care a great deal about the welfare of animals, but oppose PETA and its overbearing tactics:
"Thank you very much for your campaign against the actions of PETA. As a vegetarian I hate to see PETA get so much media attention for their 'causes.' I think it gives us 'normal' vegetarians a bad name. Thanks again!"

"I just wanted to applaud your organization for taking a stand against PETA. I am an animal lover and a member of the ASPCA. Organizations like PETA cast an evil shadow over peaceful animal lovers everywhere! For many years now I have been outraged, shocked and annoyed at PETA and their actions, as well as shocked that they continue to receive tax-free funding from ignorant citizens across this country. I am so very happy to see an organization such as yours take the time, and spend the money, to educate people about the real PETA and their activities."

"THANK YOU for having the intestinal fortitude to run the ads telling about the real PETA. Most responsible pet owners and rescuers know what they are really about but it's hard for us to run TV ads. We are a small group compared to PETA but detest what they stand for."

"Thank you so much for bringing the reality of extremist, radical, terrorist organizations like PETA to the masses. They do more damage and hurt organizations that are out there trying hard to do some real good. They make it so much harder for us to get the support from communities. All of us volunteers, dedicated to animal welfare thank you."

And then there were these notes from people who simply can't stand PETA and heard their own voice in our commercials:
"I was so blown away by your ads which I saw on Fox News last night that I was happy to make a small contribution. Keep up the good work!"

"My mouth dropped to the floor when I saw your tv commercial about PETA. I was shocked. Finally someone is fighting back. I am tired of these wacko groups trying to control our lives. Keep it up, I love what you are doing by exposing some of these groups for what they really are."

"I'm still trying to pick my jaw up off of the floor. FINALLY, a campaign has sought to spread the TRUTH about groups like PETA. They seek only to promote their own twisted agenda -- consumer freedom and individual rights be damned. I could type for hours and not begin to express my appreciation for what [the Center for Consumer Freedom] is doing. Kudos to you!"

"I was so happy to see your commercial re: the violent acts committed by PETA members. It was the first time that I have seen these people challenged. I have made a donation and sent your website to everyone on my list."

"I saw one of your ads/PSA's last week and whooped with joy! At last, someone with clout is speaking out against PETA. Congratulations!"

"It is about time someone truly takes a stand to expose PETA & PCRM for what they really are, and even better that we are starting to see things on the television ... You are doing a great job, and you have the gratitude of millions of Americans for taking such a stand!"

    More PETA news.

PETA's impotence ad a no-no with CBS Animal rights group says network rejects $2M to air its meat/impotence ad during Super Bowl. January 15, 2004: 3:51 PM EST by Parija Bhatnagar, CNN/Money Staff Writer

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - This is PETA's Super Bowl ad pitch to CBS: Two scantily clad women try to seduce a pizza man but discover that he can't deliver "the goods". CBS rejected the ad. PETA says the network isn't playing fair.

Michael McGraw, spokesman for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), said the group used the provocative subject matter to make the point that eating meat causes impotence.

You kind of figure that out toward the end of the 30-second commercial when the two women express their happiness with a "vegetarian" delivery boy.

CBS turned down the hefty $2 million that the group was willing to pay the network to have the commercial aired during its Super Bowl XXVIII broadcast on Feb. 1.

CBS spokesman Dana McClintock said the network rejected the ad because of its "general policy against airing advocacy advertisements.

PETA argues that's not true, pointing out that CBS had aired an anti-smoking commercial from Truth.com during the Super Bowl.

"CBS has no problem with airing commercial after commercial advocating the consumption of fried chicken, pork sausage and fast-food burgers, even though eating these products are making Americans fat, sick and boring in bed," PETA spokeswoman Lisa Lange wrote in an e-mail to CNN/Money.

"Our ad has all three of advertising's most popular elements -- sex, humor, and animals --so the network should jump on it." she said. Top of page
