I think it's a Catch-22 for WT. Getting young men "involved" makes them feel important and gives them something to do within the Borg instead out in the "world". On the other hand, the deeper one gets involved into the inner circles them more BS you are exposed to and the more likely one is to see the hypocrisy and lack of evidence of any divine oversight.

DOC, that is what happened to my husband, made an elder and then he saw what was behind the curtain. Finally left and had never gone back.

That's definitely what the organization needs: young socially awkward men, thinking they know the objective, absolute truth, given massive amounts of authority.
