"It will be very apparent to readers of Judge Rutherford's book Creation that the present condition of Venus is about what the earth was prior to the Flood, and it is significant that some astronomers have advanced the idea that animals like the dinosaurs that once roamed this planet are now finding Venus a happy place in which to live.”

The temperature of Venus can reach close to 500 degrees C and the atmospheric pressure is 90 times more than on Earth.

Noah must have had some awesome tan lines under his sheepskin t-shirt.

The screenshot linked by Atlantis also contains the words 'cloudy envelope', which suggests that the previous page of the quotation was a discussion of the then-believed vapor canopy. They believed at the time (and into the '60s) that the predeluge earth was surrounded by a canopy of water, sometimes called the Vailian theory, which supposedly created a hothouse effect on the earth. Totally discredited scientifically, it was popular in the 1800's as it seemed to support the flood ideas.

That's ok. Jehovah(tm) lives in the Pleiades so Venus is just as believable..............if you're a mental case.

Jan. rutherford was talking nonsense for a long time.....

"The face of the deep, of course, would be toward the Pleiades, which are claimed to be the habitation of Jehovah." (Creation; 1927; 2,175,000 ed.; p. 94)

"The constellation of the seven stars forming the Pleiades appears to be the crowning center around which the known systems of the planets revolve even as our sun's planets obey the sun and travel in their respective orbits. It has been suggested, and with much weight, that one of the stars of that group is the dwelling-place of Jehovah and the place of the highest heavens;..." (Reconciliation; 1928; p. 14)

"The constellation of the Pleiades is a small one compared with others which scientific instruments disclose to the wondering eyes of man. But the greatness in size of other stars or planets is small when compared with the Pleiades in importance, because the Pleiades is the place of the eternal throne of God." (Reconciliation; 1928; p. 14)

The unburied dead, those slain by Jehovah, will be so enormously many that even the carrion birds and scavenging wild beasts could never take care of their consumption. The burial of even what remains after these lower creatures have their fill would be stupendous. Doubtless the Almighty God will use some highly scientific means, whether including
antimatter or not, to dispose of the surplus of decaying bodies in a speedy and sanitary way. This remains for the survivors of the war of the great day to see and witness.

The Awake! was discontinued for economic reasons as well as lack of credibility. If you knew some of the editors, you would understand how such outrageous info worked its way onto the pages. There was seldom an honest attempt to prove anything that was written. And why should there be? If anyone disagreed, they would be pounded down like a protruding nail. Put simply, the magazine ceased to be taken seriously and the GB knew it. In like manner, the 192 page books have been phased out as many of their assertions were ludicrous.

The Awake! is still going, see link below for the latest edition. Without it, countless JW's would not have a University equivalent education.

The thing to remember about the Borganization is that they are not simply uneducated and thus ignorant, but they are fanatically anti-science and would argue that educated rational men were under Satanic influence.

Granted, in the 19th and early 20th century not much was known about the true nature of dinosaurs and the importance of plate tectonics in the evolution of life on earth, but the guys in Brooklyn wouldn't hesitate to go beyond the book they claimed to revere, seeking refuge in pyramids, junk medicine, superstition, anti-matter and spacefaring dinosaurs.

Jehovah's Witnesses of today have a proud heritage only if they obfuscate their past.

(I dedicate this comment especially to the JWs of the Middle Village and Sunnyside congregations of Queens NYC with whom I associated 50 years ago until I found incontrovertible proof that the WTB&TS is not a righteous organization, but a huddle of COWARDS. Listen, obey and die knowing nothing like the beasts of the field. Jehovah, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and your resurrection hope are the goofball ramblings of your anointed leaders. You have wasted the only life you were given.)

    VANDERHOVEN7:

Wow, I don’t remember hearing that one about the dinosaurs and Venus.. What an embarrassment the teachings of this religion are. No wonder they don’t want JWs reading their old books and publications.

    NATHAN NATAS:

I like your last paragraph..It wouldn’t surprise me if ‘Listen, obey and die’ is probably somebody’s hidden feelings about the rank & file. I also think people in the religion have wasted the only life they were given. I’ll bet some suspect this but they are hanging on because of the sunk cost fallacy.
