    Hello Mpatrick,

While I have fond memories of Christmas as a young Baptist (before induction into the fundamentalist cult) I came here only to say hello to you and the family.

As I was reading some terribly boring legal stuff about an hour ago my computer screen saver randomly flashed up a picture of you (I think from the candle light figil) and I immediately thought of the whole family here.

So when are you all coming back?

    Steve

since i have met fiance' i have learned to enjoy all the holidays. Even the commercial aspect of the holidays. Hell spend some money and make people happy. Jo says the only reason JWs don't celebrate holidays they are too tight. I agree. I spend 35 years in the org. and all I ever heard was," I sure am glad we don't celebrate Christmas." You know why.

I am of the "I love the whole shabang" class.

Overstocked shelves, department stores competing to bring me the best stuff for less....Good for me!!!

Right now, we can get a 21" stereo flat screen television for a hundred clams, printers for 19, three cd players for 39 bucks. I love commercialism!! The closer to christmas, the lower the prices too. You just have to know how to play em.

Oh, and my Lord, the "after Christmas sales"!!!!

I don;t see Christmas being commercialised as being unusual.

It's originally a religious festival, and religions have always been about power, which is associated with money according to the adage "If money isn't power, why have the powerful alwasy got loads of money?"

(((((Steve))))) We hope we can come again soon, as soon as you are willing to tackle a house full of Patricks' again. I can't remember a vacation that was as nice as the one spent with you and Joy in your beautiful home! Sean still talks about the beach!

I am of the "I love the whole shabang" class.

Me too! I think having little ones at home makes it all that more fun! I love the shopping, the decorating and the music! I love the whole SHABANG....add my name to your class...We can meet every Monday and discuss receipes, sales, gift ideas and the latest Christmas CD releases.

all I ever heard was," I sure am glad we don't celebrate Christmas."

I have a good friend that jokes about becoming a JW at Christmas so that he doesn't have to buy presents...LOL But even as a JW, I always wished we could at least decorate or sing carols if nothing else.

Merry Christmas to all of you!
