I hear a lot of people complaining about the commercialism of Christmas....well, I buy into the whole kit and kaboodle...I love Christmas and everything about it!

Infact, I celebrate only for the commercialism since I don't buy into the whole "Christ" of the holiday.

    Does anyone else LOVE Christmas?

I like the spirit that comes with it and the feeling I get. That's about it.

It is a "fun" party time of year. It was denied to me as a child, and so I think of it as that much more fun and harmless to celebrate and revel in the festivities.

    Any excuse for a party!

A lot of it is fine but I have to draw the line when it comes to those department store Santas.

Guys wearing nothing but black boots and a fuzzy red suit, their faces disguised, and bouncing a young girl on his lap and yelling "Ho Ho Ho" at her.

In my opinion, calling a child a Ho is not at all polite.

Im the same as the first couple of posters, being raised as a JW I never celebrated christmas so I enjoy the short period of time people are friendly to each other and the exchanging of gifts with close friends at work and family members, while I found the majority of people get very stressed out. Go figure.

Its true that it has been commercialized, like any other Holiday in this country. After New Years up go the Valentines day crap, in July back to school sales, right after halloween its christmas. At least its like this at Walmart where I shop reguraly.

Me too!! I was at Wal Mart today and the only thing I didn't like about all the Christmas stuff, was that they were stocking the shelves and there was so much stuff in the aisles it took me twice as long to see it all. I bought a bunch more stuff too.

I am excited to start decorating this weekend. Christmas Tree 6 We don't do the Jesus end of it either.............just Santa and snowmen and gingerbread boys. Santa 2

I am loving the buying of stuff.. I have had so much fun getting pretty decorations for all over the house. I'm so excited to get the tree up and all the new pretty ornaments. My bf said to me the other day, I don't want a present. I was like HUH? He said, well you know I was raised Muslim and so I don't believe in Jesus, so why would I celebrate it. At first I didn't say anything but then brought it up yesterday. I asked him if I couldn't buy just a little present???? and he said why? I don't believe in Jesus again. I said well I don't believe Jesus was born on December 25th. I know the pagan background of Christmas but for once I really want to be able to buy presents and share with friends and decorate the house all up in December.. enjoy the snowmen.. and snowflakes.. and glitter pointsettas.. and MISTLETOE..

so now I am a little sad.. my little tree with all its pretty ornaments will end up presentless under neath it I guess.. If I can't buy him a present.. no doubt he won't be buying me one..

it is going to be a sad.. but very pretty tree..

Ironic.. all these years I wanted to celebrate.. and I am still with a non believer in Xmas..

Hey Michelle, good to see you.

I love Christmas too. Of course my first couple of years as a dub I was very self-righteous about not celebrating, but as time went on I missed it more and more.

Glad I checked guilt at the door and left JW land. Last Christmas was my first in 10 years, I had a great time. It does get a little overdone in some aspects, but it's all good. It sure breaks up the cold, ugly drabness of midwestern winter.

I honestly feel that Christmas is now nothing more than a festival of overspending and overindulgence driven by commercialism.
