Here in America, we have a tradition to set aside one day to be especially grateful. That day is today. The psychological benifits of being grateful is well known and promoted by business experts, healthcare professionals, secularists, believers ... you name it. Some call it an attitude of gratitude.

    So I'll start us off.

    1. I'm grateful for waking up today.

    2. I'm thankful I have a job

    3. I'm grateful for my wife

    4. I'm thankful that I have my health

    5. I'm grateful for my dog Pepper

    1. The goodness of God. "All my life He has been faithful; all my life He has been so so good"

    2. That my family loves the Lord and each other and are seeking those things which are above where Christ is.

    3. That we are all in relatively good health.

    4. that we all have or had excellent salaried positions and have no financial difficulty.

When people ask how I am, I almost invariably answer that I am better than I deserve. If they respond to that in anything more than a smile, I tell them what I have but don't deserve...see number 5.

    5. The promises of God for our future and grace for the present.

Usually the Yorkshire Puddings ... so good!

Oh, erm, and the family, friends, and dogs too.

But did I mention the Yorkshire Puddings?

I'm thankful for the "worldly" friends we have developed since leaving. Sadly, the list is not very long. Perhaps as others have also discovered, making new friends just isn't that easy. It's something one takes for granted as a JW. EVERYONE is your buddy -- as long as you don't step out of the goose step cadence.

Alas, to all of our former friends we are dead -- or "dangerous" -- or deplorable.
