    Greetings, Jhine!

Koine Greek had no version of God's Name- until later.

    Add to that-

"Rabbi Tarfon or Tarphon was a member of the third generation of the Mishnah sages, who lived in the period between the destruction of the Second Temple (70 CE) and the fall of Betar (135 CE).
A passage recorded in the Hebrew Tosefta, Shabbat 13:5, quoting Tarfon referring to the early Christian writings~Shabbat 13:5:The books of the Evangelists and the books of the minim they do not save from a fire [on the Sabbath]. They are allowed to burn up where they are, they and [even] the references to the Divine Name that are in them.
There is debate as to whether Tarfon's reference to the minim is to be taken as a reference to heretical Jews in general, or to a particular group of them, for example Jewish gnostics or Jewish Christians according to preferred interpretations of gilyonim and minim.

Hi MCL - welcome to the forum

It seems that your confidence in the leadership of the organisation has taken a hit but your have not seriously questioned your faith in god or in the bible.

I was in a similar position a number of years ago.

What are the biggest reasons that make you convinced about the fundamentals and is there any potential information that could make you question them?

To begin with, Cofty- and thanks!-they are no longer training us to be speakers and teachers- just puppets reading their words.

"Stick to the outline, and do not add your own thoughts, or other scriptures" is the general rule!

First, EA, is seeing if God exists in the 1st Place.

Then, if you see He does, determining if He ever gave mankind guidance.

Examining all the 'Holy' books- only ONE stands out as real.

Finally, praying to God for understanding , then reading it starts the process!

    Everything then falls into place!

Thank goodness we're back to good ol' silly religious debates, but a debate of the cult that leads to mental slavery. Green Bible? You're an old adherent of the corporation. Long live the Knorr legacy. That means you.

True, WA! Except that if it's "mental slavery", it is to those who CHOOSE it.

I never have, once they exposed my Catholic Cult!

O.K but the Divine name wasn't in the " books of the evangelists " there has not been any evidence of that . Also you have just said that Koine Greek did not have an equivalent in it until later .

How can you stay loyal to false prophets ? How many times has the GB predicted Armageddon ? the most notable being in 1975 , the Autumn of to be precise . They let people sell houses , cars , and insurance policies to give the money to fund extra preaching . Then when it didn't happen no one was refunded . l am not a Catholic but l will say that the Catholic Church never pulled a stunt like that .

If you really want to nurture a belief in God and his Son this is a good place to educate yourself. And by the way You do need a reality check.

Our interests on this forum......... is not to second the WT beliefs or any other religions belief. You get to do that for yourself.

For most of us we are not tied to the Old or New Testament instead our respect is reserved for humanity. Meaning we respect the good that is in humanity, in education, science, health. We work at understanding reality and real history....... not made up bullshit to suit a church hundreds of years after Jesus walked the earth.

None of which Jesus was interested in. He was like today's politicians............ he was running for the job of Messiah. Hence all of those funky miracles that amounted to nothing including the resurrection of Lazarus.

By the way has anybody ever heard from Lazarus? I bet the JW's would love to know that Lazarus is still with us.

Good news..... bad news. Lazarus lives but he's in Salt Lake City

Apparently the son of God had his memory scrubbed when born and it took a good 30 years before he realized he had a vital mission to perform.

Sloppy work on behalf of his Father.

By the way......... why didn't Jesus or any of his followers write anything down at the time so that mankind could follow the actual words he intended? After all the oral stories telling about Jesus.......... we have no idea what he said or what he meant but we do have the writings of good old Paul.

It's interesting to me that Paul only needed the space on the front and back of a post card to quote all he thought Jesus had to say.

Paul was a self important total nut case.

Even the con man, Joseph Smith, hand wrote everything down that affects the Mormon religion to this day.

Mohamed wrote down everything that effects the Muslim religion to this day.

And lets not forget the ancient Greeks who rationalized that the Atom might exist.

Then there is Buddha who spoke about human reasoning........ that is still practiced to this day....cause someone wrote it down.

But know that the Jehovah's Witness Governing body does not quote nor study the life of Jesus. Of course Jesus did not say any thing about the future WTBTS.

The Society is very petty about respect.

Now if we can only locate a true religion that would make that statement valid.
