Elders are just as programmed as the rest of congregation .

You might not get DFed but you would be marked.

No one expected it to be wrong by 40+ years! This is the ultimate embarrassment for watchtower. They are living it down now because many of those people who remember it are dead. Those who dare mention it will find their ass drug into the back room with two elders!

The WT explained this very clearly in its issue of July 15th, 1976 when it said:

"If anyone has been disappointed through not following this line of thought, he should now concentrate on adjusting his viewpoint, seeing that it was not the word of God that failed or deceived him and brought disappointment, but that his own understanding was based on wrong premises."

The fact that there were no apostates saying this in the sixties and early seventies proves that there never has been a genuine prophet in the entire bunch.
