    Hello all JW's,

Psalm 37:29 is a verse often quoted by JW's as a "proof" text to say that besides the 144,000 who go to heaven, the rest of those who follow Jehovah are destined for paradise on earth. What makes you as a JW believe that this verse clearly proves that doctrine? Comments from JW's only, at this point please.

    Thanks

    Paul

Don't hold your breath Paul! Methinks you won't get knocked over in the rush!

BTW I think your premise that Ps 37:29 is used by JWs to "prove" the two classes teaching is a bit short of the mark, but it'll be interesting to read your replies.

Now, while we're waiting, how about telling us a little about your own experience with the dubs? You have many eager 'listeners' who'll be able to welcome you aboard.

    Hello All,

Thanks for the warm welcome from everyone. I'm not an ex-JW, but have been born again since 1988, and live in Brisbane, Australia. Lately I have been debating on beliefnet.com with JW's but there don't seem to be enough JW's who like to really go for a strong debate except for one guy Heinz Schmidt, who runs bible.ca.tc. How many current JW's use this forum? I love to share the good news with JW's at every opportunity, ever since that first knock on the door in 1989!

I am always interested to hear testimonials from ex-JW's. What are the key things that made you leave or start to question the org? How did family and friends react?

    Cheers

    Paul

    Well,

For one thing, Sexual Abuse, Lack of Love, teaching contrary to what the bible teaches to name a few...

I would suggest surfing about a bit... there are lots of testimonials here about how ppl got out of the cult. There are lots of good ppl here, too, that like a good debate. If that's your cup of tea, then you have found the right place.

    Anyhow, welcome aboard!

    A GREAT BIG WELCOME, PAUL.

In answer to your questions about coming here, here's my own story: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/9/47295/1.ashx

Others have equally if not more harrowing stories to tell.

    Best wishes,

    Ian

If you are looking for bonafide JWs to debate on-line, you may be a lonely guy.

You see, the internet is demonized. It is filled with apostates. It is evil.

The internet has been discouraged by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society from the beginning. Web sites for and by actual JWs have been strongly discouraged, and in many cases closed down by threats from headquarters. I personally know a pro-JW site that shut down when the owner was told that he would be removed as a ministerial servant unless he closed it. There are almost none left.

The reality is that JWs doctrinal system is pretty fragile. When they knock on a door, they rarely get a knowledgeable response, because they are unexpected. When they come to the internet, they run into people who are qualified to refute them. They are greeted by people like you (who know your doctine), or us (who know their doctrine), and they don't last very long.

A JW on the internet is usually a soon-to-be ex-JW.
