Hi Xena73 and welcome, In short no you can not officially be disfellowshipped or dissociated but you can still be shunned to varying degrees, a lot depends on the manner in which you withdraw.

Just as they can state at a meeting that you are an "unbaptized publisher", they can also state later that you are no longer an "unbaptized publisher".

For all practical purposes, you have become, in their eyes, shit. Don't expect an invite to anyone's home.

Not everything is necessarily announced from the platform but some communications are circulated by the unofficial but effective 'gossip mill'.

Although JWs claim they do not gossip, many are proficient at doing so.

What you can do is absent yourself form meetings.

Eventually you will get a phone call from some Elders or emails.

Emails are easy to brush aside....... you can claim......... you do not check your emails.

Phone calls you answer should start with an appreciation acknowledgement that the brother or sister is wanting to know why you have 'dropped out' of meetings.

You can use the phrase you have 'stumbled by.....in this case the JW's pedophile problem. Until it's cleaned up you can not be involved in the religion.

Thank them and invite them to let you know when pedophiles will no longer be tolerated and not exposed to the proper authorities.

That's it your done with the JW's religion. It's their weak point and there's no censure since it's all over the news...... Google It.

I suggest that you don't do anything different until you have a solid exit plan. That plan is different for everyone depending on their circumstances and what they want to achieve. If you have family still in, don't be in a hurry to put on a Big Scary Apostate Hat and go scaring the bejeesus out of them.

Be very careful on how you leave. Make sure you can have your life sorted out before you jump. You wouldn’t want to be left emotional Or physically in the gutter. Even when your not baptized Elders can talk with their groups to say a certain ex unbaptized publisher went apostate and should be shunned.

If the elders approach you and start asking questions to make you feel awkward, quietly asked them whose 8th year is spoken of at 2 Ki 24:12

Am doing a youtube to help make the issue clearer for everyone but basically you can blow them out of the water on their 1914 doctrine using the authority of God and pure science (maths) to trump them. It only takes 7 scriptures and what you find is they REFUSE to look at the scriptures cause it is SOOOO self evident.
