In 1916, they said that Bible Students were all convinced that the war was the beginning of Armageddon.

No room for doubt, no "maybe", no "perhaps"...

    Watchtower, January 1, 1916:

March 15, 1917, they repeated it, again: The war would lead to Armageddon!

In January 15, 1918, just months before the war´s end, they mentioned it, I believe, for the last time: The war would lead to Armageddon. They didn´t quite say it like that in this case, but if you read between the lines, that ´s what they said:

    Good work ILOVE

If one reads the bible in accuracy you see Jesus said all these things must occur.

Well there were more wars within humanity predominant pre 1914 based on actual factual history but the WTS exploited WWI because Armageddon was proclaimed by the IBSA to come in that year.

Take aggressive literature proprietors (Publishers) bent toward proliferating the literature they publish who validate their findings through bible Scripture and then push that literature to the public and people will read those pieces of literature because they themselves actually believe in the bible.

This activity by the WTS went on all throughout the 20th century and still does to this day.

ILTTATT2: Great effort. wt always had a running story.

in our day, revision was on a monthly basis. by the time translation came out. You were well served to keep your original wt copies, the bound volumes were changed to fit the newer, developing situations.

Yes, the Bible Students (not JW's yet) were told not that 1914 was the beginning of some long end-time, but rather that it was the end. And barring some last-minute "new light" that it was to be the start of Armageddon or a great tribulation, they expected the world war to develop into the great war of Satan vs. Jehovah.

Since men such as C T Russell proclaimed that Christ returned in 1874, it wasn't hard to follow up on that proclamation that 1914 would be the start of Armageddon.

The WTS/JWS was really founded on false doctrines perpetrated in the continuing endeavor of literature proliferation.

Even in the 1950 it was taught that The Great Tribulation had started in the WW1's time, was interrupted in 1918 and would resume again soon, now when the overlap will have lapsed; which means that

wt now teaches not only an anointed generation overlap, but a general. Great Crowd of Other Sheep overlap.
