Did you ever get a virus on your computer?

I've had a few... and it always happened when I let my guard down and did not keep my firewall, virus scanner and security patches up to date.

The only thing I had installed was Elf Bowling. He told me it was a virus.

I would trust Symantec's AntiVirus Research Center over a tech at Compaq any day.

We had a few people at our office download Elf Bowling on their work machines (bad users!)... but it didn't cause any problems.

No virus can cause irreparable damage to your computer. But there's certainly no harm in avoiding stuff like Elf Bowling.

It was really fun, and the kids loved it. I just am not going to chance it again. (Elf Bowling) This computer is too expensive to try it again.

I'm glad to hear it didn't destroy the A drive and the CD rom drive, but what did? It was a fairly new computer. One by one the drives were not accessible, and software wouldn't work.

That computer now is only good as a door stop. It still turns on, but nothing else works. Too many things to repair to be worth doing.
