When an apostate returns to the cult

Yesterday I decided to get in touch with an ex-elder, ex-bethelite who woke up and left a few months after me. I hadn’t spoken to him in over a year. The last time we spoke he was a happy, well adjusted atheist. He used to tell me stories about Bethel, the alcohol culture, the gay brothers who’d try their best to conceal it and we shared stories about our JW days.

I asked how he is and how things are. The last time we spoke he was making new friends in the real world and had debunked 1914 on his own research (this is actually what started his wake up). He replied that things are good, asked how I am and then said he couldn’t talk as he was busy.

Later in the day, I was telling my brother about me talking to him and he said that this guy was reinstated a few months ago.

I initially suspected (and hoped) that he’s playing the game seeing as his wife left him when he woke up and im told they’re back together now and have a baby (which is nice). But his WhatsApp tag line is Psalm 83:18 (WTF?).

Don’t get me wrong, if he thinks he’d be happier back in then good luck to him. But isn’t apostacy supposed to be the unforgiveable sin?

And wouldn’t you know, all those JWs who were digging up dirt about him and talking about him behind his back are suddenly inviting him to things and hanging out with him.

Amazing what a good love-bombing can do. He will probably enjoy his celebrity status for a year or so and start a new fade. Some people are just fickle.

He must be a really good salesman. I would expect it to take some "fast talking" to get past the "apostate" title and reputation.

Hypocrisy and arrogance are the two most enduring JW traits that left an impression on me, and there are spades of especially the former in this small tale.

I call it their Flexible Forgiveness Programme.

    Depends what you did.

    Depends who you are.

What's in it for them if applied.

With so many exiting the cult, the 're-entry' rules get looser by the day.

    Ha........Ha.........HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

This is some crazy-ass shit right here! That dude??? He's gonna CRACK!! Mark my words, he will not last 5 years. The JW crazy will split his mind in two. He will have a breakdown, complete and total. This is especially true as his child grows older and he's forced to comply and indoctrinate the child as he was. His mind won't allow him to for very long.

That dude is in some serious shit.

I agree with Wing Commander, you cannot "unknow" something, and once 1914 has been debunked, the whole House of Cards that is J.W teachings and ridiculous claims falls down.

The Cognitive Dissonance will scream at him from within, and become too much to bare.

But having someone like that back in is not all bad. He will not be a fully blind mind controlled drone, and probably will not be able to refrain from voicing his thoughts, if he manages to refrain from actually laughing out loud on occasion.

Such people, PIMO, are a real danger to the Org, and can sow doubts in others. May he do much, from within, even if unintentionally, to help others to leave. Perhaps his intention is to slowly help his wife to wake up and leave ?

He has his reasons. I'm not sure what they are. Does he gain to get his leg over, perhaps?

    Time will tell.

And wouldn’t you know, all those JWs who were digging up dirt about him and talking about him behind his back are suddenly inviting him to things and hanging out with him.

Until they get bored with him.

Some people will tie a bone around their neck to get the dog to play with them! lol

I agree with WingCommander, he WILL crack again! Let him enjoy the cult! You can never un see what you have already seen. You just can't!!

Wow...my guess is the motivation is purely social...nothing to do with theology or belief system....
