Would you ever visit Bethel?

You ever been driving, and traffic builds up coming up to an accident? Human nature being what it is, everyone stops to see the accident. Of course, by the time we get there, we are so pissed at the traffic, we slow down ourselves to make sure we see what all the fuss was about.

Compare that perhaps to seeing the biggest accident of them all, Bethel. Of course we want nothing to do with it, but being it impacted our lives so much, would the curious, demented part of you want to see it?

I am kind of curious, because of just that. It played such a major part in my life for so long. Looking at it though, from the outside, sure would give me a different perspective than if I saw it while still involved.

Then again, do you have to be a witness in good standing to tour the facility? I don't have a blood card or anything for that matter even to pretend I was a witness.

Yeah, they would probably ask me to leave after a few minutes.

Nina and I visited once, back in 1986. But would I go back for a visit? No. That's a closed chapter and I have no interest in it anymore.

I ve been. I can give you the experience of ACTUALLY BEING THERE via your computer.

Here is a picture of a factory. Stare at it. Continue staring at it for 1-2 hrs. While doing this, imagine there is a big exciting city right outside your door. Continue staring at picture for 2-3 more hours. After you finish staring at this, stare at

A kitchen for a few more hours. Imagine how it must be washing dishes and cooking for jehovah. Thrilling. What? You say you want to go out to dinner or a play? Maybe go see some live music or tour some historical sites while in a world famous city? Here's a better idea. Stare at this for 4 hrs.

It's a warehouse. Get on your treadmill and walk for 4 hrs while staring at this picture. Thank you for visiting bethel. Here's some magazines to hand out on your plane trip home.

LOL Gotta agree, IronGland. Living in NY, I did the Bethel tour thing a few times with studies and visitors. Boring as hell.

The only interesting part is if you could get a tour of the office building from a personal friend. Depending on where the friend worked, you might be able to enter the sacred precincts of the writing department, see the library, view some of the artwork in progress, etc.

I probably wouldn't make it 5 minutes without being escorted out either.

I went when I was a kid and it was a huge eye opener to me then and I swore to myself I would never work there. Creepy worker bee vibes! On the whole the Brooklyn tour is mindnumbingly boring. The farm was by far the wierdest and creepiest to me. It was like they were practicing for the new system or something, well I guess not like, they acually were practicing! There is a garbage dump for the farm where you can see masses of vultures circling which was the most memorable part for me. Someone, I think our tour guide, made a reference that he imagined the dump to look like the aftermath of armageddon and the birds eating the dead unbelievers and then everyone laughed like it was a joke!

I would not recommend the tour of Bethel as it is downright boring. The Farm is interesting just for the creepy factor.

LMAO @ Irongland! What were those pics. Now I need to hook up my scanner. I have whole albums full of stupid factory/home/office tours at Bethel. I have been several times. Been there, done that, bought the postcards! HA.

Seriously, don't tell them you are a witness. They give tours to "worldly" people, think they can impress them with how clean it is compared to other printing facilities. Has anyone ever toured actual other printing facilities? Oh, so we'll just take your word for it...

Last time I went to NY, I did NOT do any tours. Everyone who knew I went (JWs) were horrified to find out I spent my time being a tourist of *gasp* NYC!

Have visited a few times already and paid my dues.

Next time I'm in NYC; I'm touring everything BUT the WTS offices.

    Winston.

P.S. Ironclad, yes that about sums it up, LOL!
