Welcome Duane.
Back in my time, My wife and I left together in the 1960's the JW's were a good deal more relaxed then what it has now evolved into. Fear and hate.
Let's face it all of your friends who were in were also in fear of being disfellowshiped if seen talking to you even if you simply disassociated yourself. Yes the Society uses coercion to make a JW comply. One day this is going to turn around and bite them on their ass.
