It's so much simpler than that smiddy, it really is. Just look at some of the books they've printed about Jesus; Listening to the Great Teacher, The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived, Come Be My Follower.
What group other than a Christian one would print books with titles like those?

Indeed. What other group would. (rhetorical)

Consider one of the books you mention. The "Greatest Man" book. Examine chapter 39. It completely bastardizes the Biblical narrative and this book says THE OPPOSITE of what the Bible clearly says. The GM book turns the illustration completely around, and the reason the watchtower corporation does so is because they hope to conceal the true understanding of what EXACTLY Jesus was condemning when he made the illustration.

And when one understands the truth of Jesus' words, then one sees clearly that He was not only condemning the hypocrites in His day, but He was also condemning WATCHTOWER today, because watchtower hates the truth in the same manner that the religious leaders of Jesus' day hated him for speaking truth.

And the GB knows it. Hence, the reason for their concealment of the truth.

A simple though experiment: imagine, if you will, that 10 Papuan tribes (tribes A-J), untouched by Western civilisation, were each given homes with electric, DVD players and the box-set of the ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ franchise.

The 10 tribes all thought Fred Krueger was marvellous. They started to dress like him and take on his personality. They became his followers.

Tribe C focussed on the first film; the other tribes focussed on the sequels. As a result, tribe C wear red-and-green sweaters with the arms coloured plain red. The other tribes wear sweaters with the arms coloured with red and green stripes. The tribes apply different aspects of Freddy’s character in their lives too – tribe C, in keeping with the first film, are quite menacing and scary. They don’t say much but they like to scare the shit out of people, in particular teenagers. The other tribes believe in scaring teenagers, too, but are quite a mixed bunch. They are mostly interested in copying Freddy’s lame attempt at humour and camp, frothy one-liners, just like they noted when watching their holy Nightmare on Elm Street sequels.

Some of the tribes used to spend some time fighting and killing each other over which tribe followed Freddy correctly. Thank Dawkins they’ve stopped that. But they still argue: each tribe insists that they follow Freddy correctly, and that the other tribes are imposters who aren’t even worthy to be called Krueger-ists.

To any intelligent, objective person capable of rational thought, all ten tribes are Freddy Krueger-ists. They can argue over what colour the sweaters should be or what personality is best or other trifles, it matters not. All ten tribes follow Freddy …

Even within the Catholic Church, there are schisms and different interpretations of the scriptures. It's been that way for centuries, it will always be that way.

ANYONE claiming to authoritatively decide what the truth is, puts themselves in the position of speaker-for-god and interpreter of the bible and, apart from obviously being a freaking NUT, should be excluded from having an opinion on anything, certainly this.

Basically, your claims to know what the bible actually says and what god "really meant" indicates that you are delusional and should probably be on some form of medication with one of those nice tight-fitting jackets where you can hug-yourself all day in a soft room.

Or you're Jesus, returned. I don't care, get in the room and take your meds.

jws - "It's like Star Trek fans not recognizing The Next Generation fans as real Star Trek fans. Or vice-versa."

That's funny... "Battle of the Jesus Fanboys"...

    That's good.

"Anyone who insists their opinion is the only valid one shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion."
