    Try this one...

When the shades of night are falling,
    Comes a fellow ev'ryone knows,
    It's the old dope peddler,
    Spreading joy wherever he goes.
Ev'ry evening you will find him,
    Around our neighborhood.
    It's the old dope peddler
    Doing well by doing good.

He gives the kids free samples,
    Because he knows full well
    That today's young innocent faces
    Will be tomorrow's clientele.
Here's a cure for all your troubles,
Here's an end to all distress.
    It's the old dope peddler
    With his powdered ha-happiness.

I once got kicked out of an Airforce bar for having the piano player do this one...*LOL*

    Sincerely,

    District Overbeer

my sister and I hadthis and it was old when we were young...she just saw a 45 on eBay and she asked me if it was the same one---I don'tthink it was. I don't remember who sang it, but it was like a girl group and it was NOT country(which is what the one on eBay says it is). We used to always hope someday wewould hear it on Happy Days or something but we never have.

Daddy O was recorded by The Fontane Sisters. Dad loved Perry Como. They were back up singers for Perry Como.

They played that in "Four Weddings and a Funeral"!!!!

Wet Wet Wet released it in the early 90s after they sung it for Four Weddings and a Funeral, and it was a big hit over here. I still much prefer the Troggs version even if I am too young to remember it comming out.
