    Hello JWD,

    thnaks for keeping us informed

about the jw in Japan. For us in Western Europe

it is very interesting and sometimes puzzling!

Farkle: a great comment ".."If a certain man comes to have a hundred sheep and one of them gets strayed, will not not leave the ninty-nine upon the mountains, once a year at most, if it is appropriate and set out on a search for the one that is straying?"

That's the way to answer to some clever..ones!

    Greetings, J.C.MacHislopp

I think I mentioned a Protestant pastor who was being sued by the
Watchtower for infringment of a JWs religious freedom. I found out
the first hearing in the higher court was held today. There is an
intense battle being waged here in Japan over the issue of personal
rights verses the will of the family. That comes into play when
families oppose a JWs religious activities and try to use different
methods to `expose` the WT. Traditionally the will of the family at
large has taken precedence over individual`s desires and beliefs, but
the trend of late is in a `westernized` direction, i.e.the will of
the individual regardless of what that may or may not mean.

I did not quite understand what you meant, Farkel, but yes, I would call it regularly if it is something you do once a year. Maybe, due to my not being American, I use the words or understand the words differently that you do, but I would use the word "regularly" if once a year was the "rule". Here thet have done that, AND they have visited them when and if they have been informed these have talked to others about their wishing to have contact, magazines etc.
Japanese gossip and scanning of hypothetical cards which never appeared, don't impress me at all.

There is a Victims of the Watchtower national convention here in Japan. It`s been going on for over 5 years now. Get`s quite a few
    JW`s and families to attend.

Talked with a Japanese elder who recently da`ed today. He affirmed
that the handling of finances here in Japan raised many questions
in his mind about the organization. There was never any responsible
reporting beyond the level of the local congregation. Things go to
be too much for him so he left after years of special pioneering
and a stint at the Japanese Bethel.

It is becoming more and more common for ELDERS to leave the organiza-
tion. He is the third such person I`ve met in the last several months.
