By what age should parents stop bathing and wiping their children's bottoms? When are these actions a definitely no-no?

This is a weird question and I have to wonder what you have experienced or are experiencing to ask it.

But to answer your question, a parent normally stops wiping bottoms when children learn to use the bathroom independently. As far as bathing, that would depend on the child's ability to properly wash himself.

A lot depends on the parent and child. As far as a parent, a first-time parent would do things differently than a parent who has been down that road before. As far as the child, can't really put an age, because it depends on the mental capacity of the child.

Isn`t that like asking at what age should a mother stop breast feeding her child ? Surely the parent would and should know when to stop doing these things for the child .

You can`t arbitrarily put an age limit on it as all children are different as to their mental and physical development

Depends on the child. Ill always do whats best for my kids.

My 5 year old can wash herself now but needs supervision. I still do her hair though.

Never had to deal with such a scenario - thankfully!

But my best friend who is a house-husband, eventually ceased this process for his two little daughters by the time they were 3-4 years old. Trained them quite quickly to do it for themselves.

Which reminds me: I used to get quite embarrassed sometimes when I was out with my mother and I needed to pee. She'd stand me at the edge of the pavement/sidewalk, pull down my trousers and underpants, and get me to pee in the gutter. I'd complain to her, "Mum, stop doing this to me. I'm twenty six years old now!"

I go over to the home for wayward girls on Tuesdays to volunteer, but so far they just keep telling me all positions are filled currently.

    But I'm no quitter!

I don’t think it’s a weird question. Funnily enough I’ve thought of it too as in the last year my boys turned 13 and have absolutely banned me from the bathroom. Obviously I wasn’t still bathing them prior to that but I would wander in to give them a clean towel or they’d call me to ask if there was soap suds still in their hair etc

Now? Oh boy absolutely not! Another sad milestone :((

    Rubber ducky you’re the one....

you make bathtime so much fun

rubber ducky I’m awfully fond of you....rubber duck ducky!
