It's Going Down: The Family Is About to Go to War Over... Halloween Decorations.
Yup, you read right. Despite other personal turmoil that needs to be addressed, my family has decided to go nuts over Halloween decorations being "too close" to our yard.
A new family just moved in next door; their kids are super young. They watched excitedly as their mommy decorated the voltage box into a mini coffin with spider webs and ghosts. I thought it was the cutest thing. Unfortunately for my folks, they caught wind of this and were pissed. "The box is right by our yard. There's no fence so you cant tell who's who. What if the witnesses drive by? What will they think?"
Not "Oh, this is against our beliefs. They're in our space." Nope, just what the witnesses think. My dad was angry and ready to curse them out (despite the latest WT talking about abusive speech). My mom had a better idea: go cause a big mess at the Homeowners Association like she normally does. Then she was going to print of some literature and leave it at their porch. I know JWs were nuts, but it's really come to this?
I got the popcorn out...
Looks like they'll have to build a fence so that there is a clear demarcation!
Another "fine witness" in la-la land!
Print off some literature? They do print it for you (for now).
Me and my family could royally piss them off though. My mother-in-law is religious so she has some giant Jesus/Maria thing she puts up for the season and my wife would love to have some giant Halloween and Christmas decorations for the yard, I'm actually building a giant projector that would be able to beam scenes on our curtains, perhaps I can point it over enough to beam some on theirs.
I would never want a home with a HOA though.

You know that kind of neighbors are the ones that end up being featured in the Investigation Discovery network. Just sayin'.
so much for not forcing our religion on other people. the neighbors put up haloween, xmas, turkey day and all, but it is THEIRS. No red ties in December, Orange in Nov? don't even think about punkins
the projector sounds like fun, can you do a sample presentation (oops conversation) with the shadow figures to project next time someone comes to the door?
And that new family next door can go on the "do not call" list in record time!
Your parents cant do a thing as long as the decorations are on their property.
Personally being a ex-jws for many years, I dont have much respect for Halloween based on the fact that adults spend so much time and effort to frighten young impressionable children.
Aside for the fact that the celebration is connected to paganism of the Celtic Druids hundreds of years ago.

Far better to groom them for a lifetime of emotional suffering from physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.
Not like JWs to respect anyone elses right to observe holidays is it, it's only the JW's religious right not to that matters Tolerance is a one way street with them.
Yes Halloween is rubbish but what the neighbours do unlees its rowdy or illegal is dare I say... their business.
Tell your folks to get a life.
