It's actually a pretty decent set of maps, even though the scale is nor particularly useful and given the scale, errors of a few miles don't make any difference. The talk I heard made it sound like they'd invented cartography. They just can't keep from beating the drum.
To be fair, there has been considerable manipulation of maps for political purposes in the past, like a couple of hundred years ago and more, but not any more because accurate maps are so readily available.
