Crackdown on Inactive ones?

: How are inactives in the WTS's hair?

All inactive ones are potential "apostates". There's usually a good reason they're inactive. The Society knows that sometimes, discussion between an inactive one and an active JW results in information transfer detrimental to the La-La-Land view of the JW "spiritual paradise".

: Don't they all get to be counted when WTS does the numbers?

No. Only active publishers are counted as JWs. Only those who actually attend the Memorial are counted as attendees.

THE "CRACKDOWN" I BELIEVE WAS JUST AN EFFORT TO GET AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO COME TO THE MEMORIAL SO THE NUMBERS WOULD LOOK GOOD FOR THAT.

The elders have an unfinished business file and every time the Circuit Overseer comes around, that is the file he gives the elders the most grief over. Walkaways (called "inactive") first fall into that unfinished business file. During the recent campaign to contact inactive ones more than a few elders saw this as an opportunity to clean up that unfinished business file. It was a personal convenience decision and many of them made the best of a bad situation for them, by moving many of those inactive cards to the disassociated file.

Elders hate to contact inactive ones and they REALLY HATE to contact dissenters. It is their LEAST favorite thing to do. How many of us here can attest to waiting YEARS after leaving for that FIRST shepherding call?

The elders were pressured by their boss, the publishing corporation, and some of them turned it into a file cleaning exercise. Most of us are not people to them anyway . . . we are just cards in a file.

After the January, February, and March campaign, how many long time gone's here have been contacted? I'd guess not very many. Elders like to sit around and theorize, not call on hostile people. Most congregations have elders who know darn well why we left. They know it was due to their actions and they are not anxious to confront us. GaryB

Garybuss That theory is great all the time you suppose that all inactives are hostile, or are this way inclined. I guess some are, again some are not. I don't really feel like a card in some box in a KH somewhere marked inactive, I'm just me who occasinoally attends the KH, The elders amongst many others of course went out of there way to chat with me, but I felt no pressure, and certainly no antagonism towards me being inactive. A "file cleaning exercise?" No I don't think so, I see no "crackdown" only a wish for me to get back in "the fold"............. Now whether I do that is another matter of course..........

Elders tried despertely to talk to me in March. They waited for the last month to try to talk to me. Since April, no one came over. You're right Garybuss, elders don't like coming over to see inactive ones, especially me. If it didn't come from Brooklyn, they would never have tried to see me in March.

    I'd have to concurr.

It was almost to the day of the mandate that they showed up at my door when I haven't heard a peep from them in about 8 years. If it weren't for that mandate, I probably would've never heard from them save the occasional activity I reluctantly attend with my wife.
