Not going to happen. One, it has been predicted by Watchtower... and they always get it WRONG!

Seriously though, it is part of the UN UDHR:

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

    Article 18.

Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.

I started this topic mainly to provide some evidence to counter the constant scaremongering and pseudoscience we get at the KH. All to often, that's all we get. But If you just do a light bit of scratching around on the net or read on past the sport pages of the paper, then whats really going on is not that hard to find. Sadly the world is going to get worse and I believe that world war is quite likely. Not because of God's judgement or anything like that, but because of the exact opposite. By I mean, if all the so called prophesies and teachings of the Organization are not inspired, if the Jehovah's Witness faith itself is just another man made religion ... then global conflict is inevitable. Its just deductive logic and a matter of time.

The UN is literally largely bankrupt and could hardly field an army, let alone stamp out all religion.

Oddly enough the average Dub doesn't even know about it's significance in JW doctrine.

Anybody who claims that the Revelation of "John" has anything to do with events post the 1st Century is in need of some education.

Like many of the works of the Apocalyptic Genre in Literature it may seem to be prophesying, like the Book of Daniel seems to be, but that was not its purpose.

Plus, not one Biblical prophecy, ever, has come true in the terms it was expressed.

Having said that, one day I think there will be a general demoting of Religion and its power and influence, and one day, some time later, it will fade away as all superstitions will do.

Back when ol' Freddy Franz was crafting the Org's eschatology, there was a lot more cross-pollinization of ideas between far-right conspiracy theorists, apocalyptic millennialists, and anti-communist fearmongers; it stands to reason that some of those ideas ended up being featured in the Org's Revelation narrative (albeit in a modified, WT-centric form).

Unfortunately, Franz left no oracular protégé, so the Org became stuck with an outdated Cold-War-era End-Times script with powerless or non-existent bad guys, and nobody can give it a polish. :smirk:

    No.

But that won't stop the WTS from saying it has. My prediction is that in the next 10 years, the WTS will slowly start sowing the seeds to make the claim that the Great Tribulation has indeed already begun. They'll cite some vague series of UN statements that appear to de-legitimize organized religion, then point to their "waters" figuratively "drying up" (money). They'll then claim that only God's people (JWs) have the spiritual vision to see that these things have already started taking place. They'll back this up by claiming only JWs recognized Jesus' return in 1914/19, and that the rest of the world could only see and acknowledge its effect (WWI, etc.), but never--even through today-- truly understood how those events fulfilled Bible prophecy.

Uber-dubs will lose their minds with the news the GT has indeed begun (invisibly), and the GB/WT would then have the means to keep millions on-the-hook for an event that does not have a defined time period attached to it (the GT could literally last for decades, and only the GB and JWs would have the "spiritual insight" to ever recognize it was even occurring. The "last days" JWs have lived under for 100 years would simply be replaced with living during the GT).

This is easily one of the most stupid ideas that the WT promotes.

The JWs think that the UN will just pull the plug on religion, leaving only the Jws who stand out as the only group that refuse to stop practicing religion......mmmmmm.... seriously?? WTF? Islam???? Please...

So the solution to solving religious conflict is as simple as a bunch of suits saying, "No more religion!"....and just like that..... ISIS gone, the Palestine/Israel dramas finished and Christian fundamentalists everywhere renounce Jesus and embrace logic and facts. Those who are in hell best be wearing their winter clothing on that day, it's going to be chilly down there.

It's a typical idea that promotes the JWs as being far more significant than they really are. When they thought up this crack pot bullshit 100 years ago they were not counting on Islam becoming the force it is. The JWs seem to focus on the Catholics and Christendom getting judgment from the nations and not so much Islam or other eastern religions.

Keep on the watch! The day is drawing near! The time left is reduced! Jesus is coming... soon!
