These photo's were from a traditional camera / film and were spotted when the pics were developed at the lab.

It says a great deal about the intelligence of those concerned that they took them to the local photo lab for developing.

I do NOT want this to turn into some "us" vs "them" battle.

Please, let's just debate the issues and not create new ones. Thank you.

I linked to this from one of the ‘I hate America threads’. I believe the point Thi Chi is making here is not that you Euros should defend your solider but the fact that no one criticized him. If an American solider did this the board would have erupted with numerous attacks attempting to show how brutal the American army is as evidenced by this ‘one’ soldier’s actions. Where as since a Euro did this there was only silence. It is also significant to note the ‘pro-war’ Americans reaction, which was nothing. I heard about this story several days ago and I am sure others did also. No one brought it up because we realized it was just one freakazoid and is in no way indicative of the average Euro.
In short, Thi Chi was not asking Euros to defend his actions but he was asking why no criticism. It was not ‘bait’ but an honest question.

I think the differance is that this one solider does not represent the gerneral consensous. Several diferant programs portraying American society do represent a general consensous. The Presidant of America who is theoreticaly elected by the majority of the people also represents the nation he rules. The fact that the public suport him, or at least do not oppose him shows that his decisions are efectively aproved of by his people. I am not 'Anti american' but I am pro-ethics and human rights. When these rights are abused or inhibited by 'the greatest beacon of freedom in the wordl' it needs to be spoken out against, and it's time Americans listened rather than brushed it off as an 'attack'.

In the case of this solider, he has been arrested, his photos are being investigated, he will be punished, and so will everyone else involved. End of story, unless he does get away with it, now that would be something to talk about, but as far as we know, he has not.

If it was the case that another country provided evidance that UK soldiers were torturing POW's, yet the british government were hiding them, now that would be a scandal! And this would be more on par with what America is doing.

Please don't refer to the British as Euros. Thank you.

If we're discussing how the board reacts to news rather than the actual subject, you should not forget the ratio of English to American posters and the ratio of news coverage of the said incidents one to another and the difference of such coverage in each respective country, that is, for any scientific analysis. I think we are all in agreement about the atrocities however.

    um ... ThiChi / Jelly:

I condemn these acts outright and think those responsible should be prosecuted to the maximum extent possible under UK and international law. In fact, should they not be treated the same as the people who they were supposedly going to prevent doing these things? Ship them to guantanamo bay.

    Can you read?

What do you want us to criticise? We've said they should be disciplined / prosecuted for this.

Do you want us to try and defend them so you can have a go at us? It anin't going to happen ... we're not so dumb that we'd defend people who are so dumb.

    Simon:

Yes, I can read. Your condescending remark is uncalled for. You miss the point (And I know you can read).

The point was reexamining the claims and comparisons some made here concerning the US and British forces, based on this current news item. That’s all....Most here got it right....

"Several diferant programs portraying American society do represent a general consensous."

Tyler, I'm not sure what you mean by "programs," but if you want a general consensus, and you want it to be statistically significant, you'd need about 1,500 opinions to get there, not several. You'd better try again.
