I don't know how things works in USA, but here (SE Europe) large gatherings should be approved by local authorities, who also decides is internal security good enough or should be dedicated some police monitoring (uniformed or not) to the event. Same was also 30+ years ago, under socialistic regime, some policemen attended whole program, some just noon break, eating free lunch from convention bife...

I know in the early 2000 I was helping with parking at a Convention. The city that we was in required the WT to either pay the police (which was like $4000) or hire 'certified' individuals to help with the expected traffic. We were not allowed to just have brothers directing public traffic. If I remember right, we spent about $500/day for 2 officer for hire to help 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening. I also believe they put an ad in the local papers for it. What I do find interesting is them using Facebook.

Armed!? I remember how the program chair bragged about how they asked the police to not carry, and they didn't. I bet every one of those flatfoots had his backup if not his service side arm.

lol. I remember in the mid-70s when the NO COPS rules were made. Headquarters decided if they did not resign, they would lose all congregation privileges.

I grew up with lots of JW cops in my hometown. City Police, Deputy Sheriffs, State Police, and even an FBI agent. A few had to walk away from years of service and great pensions to remain Elders. Some stepped down from JW positions.

The Society had no issues asking for "favors" from them when it suited them. Armed Guarding Convention cash was one.

One real turnabout was that a "respected" married Elder was busted by an EX servant, now publisher, Detective, for molesting some young boys in a nearby Congregation.

That's Watchtower...looking good on the outside, but filthy inside.

Looking back, I think GB 1.0 Jaracz was behind that policy (a suspected child molester).

I don't know how I did not see this 5 years ago.

I don't have the time to watch the full video at the moment to learn the details. I suspect this is the action of some rogue congregation and its alpha elder on the BOE and was not done with Mother's blessing.
