This was leaked only few days ago and it's a small segment of the video from the 2024 Convention that has already started. The video shows a jw logo down while worried jws are watching it as a news item on their TV screens, others are seen hiding from the police, others driving is the countryside to escape the authorities. Is this the typical fear mongering campaign Or something more Sinister?

Either they know what's in the pipeline because they are a State Church, 501c3 religious charity and therefore have to toe the line, just like they did with Covid or else they lose their tax free status, and are 'preparing' their members as per instructions. We have the 1st amendment to the federal constitution protecting our freedom of religion and each state has that freedom in its own constitution.
And even if those were to fail to protect that freedom, we have the 2nd amendment of the US Federal constitution to bring back those freedoms.

…it was a lot more plausible way back in the day, as much of the UN charter had been drafted by Europeans with socialist (i.e. communist) leanings, McCarthyism was rampant, and the cultural shifts of the era were scaring the shit out of ultraconservative religionists.

They do seem to be prepping the R&F for possible arrests. Their attorneys have stopped trying to fight in court, a tell tale sign that they know they are in the sights of law enforcement. Spinning it as persecution may be their only way to keep the whole crowd from walking out.
