There is some truth in all religions. But that truth usually consists of common sense wisdom and facts about human psychology that people have acquired over the centuries. One certainly doesn't need religion to learn those truths, and those truths didn't originate with religion but was adopted by them - the same are morality.

The other more extraordinary claims of religions are almost certainly all false. One of the common tactics religions use is to give themselves credibility by demonstrating the truthfulness of their more trivial common sense claims and claims about human psychology, and then ride that wave or credibility to persuade people to accept their more ridiculous extraordinary claims.

For example, a religious authority might say something like: 'Modern psychologists have proven that the bible is right when it says 'an answer when mild turns away rage'. This proves it's a book of truth and wisdom inspired by God. Therefore we must not doubt it's truthfulness when it says that God made the first woman from a rib of the first man!'.

The mistaken truth involving religions is that much of the teachings are fabricated by mythological story telling, including the Abrahamic religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

It would be fair and honest to say that all religions are constructed and sourced from out of human ignorance but that doesn't mean there are no appealing social benefits derived from out of religious beliefs.

Religion and the need for these story tellers of ancient mythologies formed during the bronze age, will shrink and relevance will prevail as society advances, which will diminish exponentially in the near future causeing many to look for a different source of income to survive, as the foolish story telling business fades into obscurity. Enter the age of enlightenment due to high speed processing and the rest is history. I know 3rd world countries are far behind in this learning curve but will increase at a steady pace and eventually catch up to the more affluent member nations as this technology becomes cheaper and cheaper and more wide spread.

The truth in religion is that spiritual beliefs come from the belief or acceptance in supernatural agents that controlled what happened here on earth as a necessity to answer to why, how from what humanity saw and experienced.

This also included the perils of which humanity had to endure, these engaging relationships helped to socially appeal to a given civilization, the development of Christianity from older civilizations for example .

There is no truth in religion because there has never been any real gods.

Therefore religion is an avoidance of truth or an altered acceptance of reality .

Even so religion has historically helped to socially control and organize given populations.
