Allow me to repeat: Not knowing the ultimate answer is no reason to accept bad explanations.

You do not need to "know the entire truth" to recognize a bad apple. You still know many things that are true, and are able to recognize lies and bad policies. Which is how people can criticize JW light.

    Allow me to repeat -

That is true of any belief system

Whatever your belief system is, someone else could criticise it which would be arrogant

It's not arrogant to point out bad ideas, explanations, lies, policies, and so on. Otherwise, it would be arrogant to point out anything, at all. If that was the case, the term 'arrogant' becomes meaningless.

@ElderBerry: I twice didn’t critique you on the belief system but the actions of the organization, yet you continue to support them or ignore the truth.

Why, if what you say is true, do you not take your congregation “private” and denounce the actions of the JW “Heavy” organization and its members. A schism is long overdue.

"The only way someone could criticise those of us who choose JW light is if they claim they definitely know the entire truth and that everyone else is wrong"- that is so blatantly false and ignorant I hardly know what to say. One does not need to know the 'truth' of something to see it is clearly dangerous, false and quite arrogant to say such a thing. Could one compare joining a gang (M13 or equivalent) and say, "you just don't know the truth that we live and why we must act as we do" ? (crimes, beatings, sexual abuses, theft, drugs, prostitution, blood in blood out, etc...you don't understand 'our' truth)

Anony Mous is correct, announce and denounce the actions of the wt publically. If you, in your heart of hearts and ok, let's add reading the perverted wt Bible, find that the blood issue for example is ungodly and unbiblical, say so, go to the hospital when some poor jw is about to lose their child because the wt has said they must sacrifice their child upon the wt altar. Do you do that? no? a bit uncomfortable I suppose and you would lose much in the process. What happened to Jewish people who went against the rules & regulations? they most often were 'unclean' until morning, no shunning, no marking, simply unclean which could be rectified. (possibly bathing, prayer, etc...)

What those of us who are aggravated with the like of your ilk is because you lack integrity and only look to cover your own ass at all costs, even at the expense of someone's actual life.

I find it almost amusing that you use the word 'arrogant' for others. Why? because my jw is the only jw anybody in our family/friends have ever known and since he became a jw that is the word used most to describe his newfound 'religion'. People who loved him so much and such respect now say "I thought he was smarter than that" because they don't understand how cults work. They don't understand that he can look up both sides of any issue except the cult he is in, the jw's.

As a side note I will direct you to the search bar (or go to youtube) and use it to find jw elders/ms who actually did what I and others here have suggested, use your next 'talk' to enlighten the cong to the lies, false prophecies, abuses and so forth. There are a few who come to mind, yes, they were about 20 years ago but they were men of integrity. Men who actually cared about truth, and even some who loved God enough to be honest even if they lost much. Men of true faith. Men who could have actual long conversations about doctrine, policies, etc.... men (or women) you no longer find in the jw org.

ElderBerry, do any of your fellow elders know you are PIMA?

Yes more and more people are starting to say things kings like “even if we don’t have the correct understanding of certain things, I still love the members of the congregation they are such good friends. And having this shared interest in studying the Bible brings us all closer together “

It’s all a matter of opinion what are bad ideas.

the term 'arrogant' does not becomes meaningless.

There are so many examples of people who arrogantly point out someone else beliefs as bad.

I think every belief system could be criticised and perhaps claimed lies and bad policies. I think it is arrogant to do so.

Some evolutionary belief systems have members critical of creation beliefs. And vise versa.

Trinity beliefs systems can be criticised by those who think Jesus is Gods son and vise versa.

Islam has different belief systems who criticise each other for so called lies and policies. Same with Buddhists and Hindu belief systems.

Jews have different belief systems there is even one called Jews for Jesus.

There are hundreds and hundreds of different so called Christian belief systems that could all be arrogantly criticised.

I think both sides are arrogant. Far better to say you can believe that if you want I’m not sure what the truth is. This is not arrogance and this is what JW lite is exactly.

Jw lite seems to be a modern day version of Pascal's wager, just in case they are right and also that they maybe they are wrong, so I will edge my bet.

Absolutely true. Pascal was spot on in my humble opinion.

PIMA is a wager. Really whatever you decide to believe is a wager.

the good thing about being PIMA or JW lite is that if the Bible is correct and if JWs are correct then all us JW lite folks will get into paradise any way 👏

for now just enjoy the congregation and study the Bible with Pascal’s wager in mind

    yes
