What does the term "BORG" mean? I see it posted so much.

    Welcome to the board, Shamus.

I guess you can say it is a slang word for B"org"inization. I think some sci-fi pic refers to the "mother" ship or whatever as the borg. Or maybe just the bad guy. Take your pic.

<----not into SciFi unless it is the Matrix

    Anyway, welcome,

Borg refers to the TV show "Star Trek: The Next Generation". The Borg were a race of cyborgs who assimilated (conquered) other cultures and absorbed them into the overall collective. Their favourite (how's that Simon) phrase was: "Resistance is futile."

Many ex-Witnesses see parallels between those characters and Jehovah's Witnesses' mentality.

Borg, is a couple things. First it's an alien race created by Star Trek. A race that when it came into contact with other races would assimilate them, absorb then into it's network. Biological being would be implanted with Borg equipment. They would become part machine. All free individual thought would end. Your thoughts were now the Borg thoughts. Much like ants or bees. You were no longer an sovereign individual but rather of the Collective.
