yes darkspilver and to make things even more consuming is in the US there is a range of age of consents between 16 and 18 depending on the state, this is even though the age of majority is the same in all states 18. And even to make it even worst is in some countries there are different ages of consent depending if it is heterosexual sex vs homosexual sex.

What would be so hard about saying that such is a crime and therefore out of their jurisdiction and that it should be taken to the police? Such a seemingly simple fix for the whole thing but they're busy trying to weasel their way into some wording that somehow makes the handling of such sensitive matters by untrained simpletons okay.

John Davis: even though the age of majority is the same in all states 18.

    Except when it isn't....

    USA: Colorado = 21

    USA: Mississippi = 21

thank you darkspilver that is interesting. https://www.courts.state.co.us/Courts/Education/Youth/Laws.cfm says that the law says that the age of majority is 21 but that 18 year olds are treated as adult with some exceptions. But that the parents are still liable for their child until the age of 21. The law is an extremely complicated thing and isn't always cut and dry.

But especially thank you to the Australian Royal Commission (who I hope have a copy of this) who have placed hooks in the jaws of Watchtower and dragged them screaming and kicking to this point.

    That was my thought.

Dragged kicking and screaming into the 20th century.

John Davis: The law is an extremely complicated thing and isn't always cut and dry.

Which is also I suppose why the letter says that the: "elders should call the Service Department before proceeding." - rather than the WT writing a specific letter for each state and country around the world.

berrygerry: Dragged kicking and screaming into the 20th century.

haha - at your ironic comment

Darkspilver. I can even see where it can be even more complicated let's look at just the US for congregations that maybe on a border of a state or a foreign language congregation that has members in different states but meeting in the same congregation. Each state would have their own laws and it would depend on where the act took place and that is how the law would determine things.

Even in Europe where it is common for people to travel quite frequently to other countries within the union if the offense took place in one country where it might be legal for that to have occurred but was reported in another country where the age of consent is higher. How do you deal with a situation like that?

Dude, you are seriously missing the point.

Why in the world are WT and elders involving themselves in sex crimes?

In Canada, EVERY citizen is a mandatory reporter.

As the ARC showed, among other things, WT investigating interferes with the proper authority's investigation AND causes further trauma to the victim.

Why the freak are these rent-a-cops playing God?

"Br. Brown: Johnny says ... "

    Br. Brown - 911.

    That's it. That's all.
