Which magazine is now the most widely circulated in the world?

Before responding, keep in mind that certain parameters (such as content and page count) ought to be met before any printed material intended for mass distribution can be categorized as a “magazine”. For example, the absolute minimum range for any publication to be considered a magazine is typically around 32 to 48 pages while the highest page counts are usually around 128 to 160, with some popular women’s fashion magazines coming in quite a bit higher than that.

So with that said, which is now the world’s most widely circulated magazine?

"Every month, nearly 40 million copies of The Watchtower are printed in more than 180 languages and sent to 236 countries."

A lot of magazines are struggling in this era of the Internet. But a few are doing well. Many North American think the most successful magazines around now are either The Economist or O, The Oprah Magazine.

But the most widely read magazine in the world is not the rigorously-edited global affairs magazine with a business emphasis, nor TV talk show host Oprah Winfrey’s contribution to health, happiness and spiritual growth.

No, the world’s most popular magazine is religious.

    It is The Watchtower.

It is the official publication of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

most widely read magazine in the world... It is The Watchtower.

Eh, not necessarily. Well, it may possibly be the most widely distributed, but I'm not sure how they get that number. If it is based on how many are printed, then I'm pretty sure quite a few of those never get placed and instead end up in a box in some JW's attic. If it based on publisher time cards, then those numbers could easily be falsified, therefore they can't be considered as accurate. Furthermore, even if it is "the most widely distributed magazine in the world," that is no guarantee that it is the most widely read. After all, how many people may simply throw it away without reading it? Hell, I was a JW myself and there were some magazines I never read.

If you altered the question from "circulated" to "read"you may get a different answer. Sorry, Saethydd you kinda made the same point.

The Watchtower is a Non Prophet organization. Real magazines rely on profits rather than false prophesies, to survive.

That might be so but of course the WTS has never honestly come forward and mention how much lies, deceptions and corruption this religious publishing house made to reach that amount of circulation.

Its all about numbers for this religoius publishing house, even if its activity goes beyond what the bible through the words of Jesus Christ instructed into how to preach his Gospel

The question should be, 'which is the most highly subscribed and sought after magazine'. Publishing a magazine and delivering it free and unwanted is not really a true test of circulation. How large would the circulation be of the wt rag if people actually had to take the time and subscribe to it of their own free will?

Yes, when we think that 8 million witnesses are obliged to take at least one copy each for themselves, plus their obligatory handful to "place" in the territory, the numbers seem high.

But simply handing something out for free does not indicate the real "popularity" of an item....
