Jehovah`s Witnesses consider baptized children 10 years and younger as ministers of religion . It would be interesting to see how that is viewed by the government.

Bring it on I say .

JW's don't pay any of their ministers, neither do they run any private schools, welfare programs or help the homeless or anyone in need, including their own... So not sure how this will apply to JW's...

Satan has higher standards than the Bible, for appointing religious leaders.
We have to rely on his worldly organisations to protect children.

    Jaidubdub ,

They also claim they are a not for profit organization , however they make xxx amount of Dollars from real estate sales , worth millions of $$$$`s , also multitudes of investments with different company`s , some which are dubious for a christan organization. Around the world ,,millions of dollars in tax havens including the Hayman Islands in the Carribean . Claiming they are a charitable organization , who do no charity work for the general public ..and again get involved with organizations that are in contrast with the said beliefs of the organization , eg: Becoming an N.G.O. with the U.N.Organization who they describe in their publications as the "Abomination That Causes Desolation , the Counterfeit Kingdom Of God " .

This organization drains the very blood out of it`s own members who devote their own time and energy , volunteering years of sacrifice only to be discarded on the scrap heat at the whim of their G.B. when they become a burden to them financially.

Hey Smiddy, I was just responding to Sherry11's 2nd post about what the gov funding in Aust consists of...

i am aware of how discusting this organisation is... I'm a faded 3rd generation born in JW with family members in very high positions within this organisation. I also have a disfellowshipped sibling which total f'd up our family. Even though I never shunned them & we have recently reconnected, in the end, there is some damage that just can't be undone. This organisation has taken so much from me which I know I can never get back. But I am trying to make the most of what I can...

A key element of such a strategy would be for an independent and external body to grant registration to members of the clergy conditional on their adhering to a set of professional standards,” he said.

Village Idiot. What is it that you don't like about this proposal? Is it not a way of ensuring that people measure up to a certain standard of competence in thier chosen life calling. It could be teaching literature, caring for the disabled, and also an accountability for those who may profess to be in teacher or carer mode for ones spiritual growth and safety. It is pointless to complain about a problem then complain when a solution is presented.

I'm all for regulating and imposing a vigorous framework for monitoring religions globally. Where ministers are "teaching" doctrine and ideology and not being monitored with regard to qualification or acceptable behavior, secular teachers are constantly under scrutiny for what they are teaching children. I say put them under the same scrutiny and yes, regulate religion with enforced compliance laws. This way cults Like Scientology, the JWs etc. would find it harder to run amok.

This is a fantastic idea. Can you imagine CO's having lectures in child protection issues, domestic violence, countering hate crimes against minorities & equal rights legislation for gays & women including info on historical abuses & the reasons why all these things are important. Accountability & transparency you name it basically modern, decent "moral"attitudes that are now encoded in our laws! Lessons WITH other faith practioners!!How primative and unloving it will make the JW's look! I am all for educating JW's!!! I think they would have to go for it in order to claim their tax exemption!! Im guessi!g only paid workers like CO 's & branch workers would qualify, maybe elders, can u imagine the lessons...

(teacher)ok folks, now, imagine you are taking part in a charitable work & a child approaches you crying with bruises on the leg & face saying that daddy did it after catching her kissing a photo of "One direction", now what will you do ..mr J.Dub?

mrJ.Dub. Ok im going door 2 door..

teacher: no I said a charity function..

mr J.Dub: We dont do that kind of charity...we show our love through our ministry...

teacher: (sigh)...ok, so ...show your love through your ministry & your response..

mrJ.Dub: Whats the matter little A.Child..whats that daddy hit you? He that Spares the rod is not loving his own flesh...What's that you kissed a boy? A photo..? Pornia!! Pornography no doubt! How exactly did u kiss him, with toungues ..ahem..I mean I you baptised? You are! Good we can institute the loving provision of disfellowshiping & shunning you..

Teacher :....oh mr J Dub..if the father is violent perhaps you could talk to the mother about a place of safety..

Mr J.Dub: oh no, principal of headship ... the wife must be in subjection ...could not possibly go behind mr violent drunk Dads back...

You guys get the picture anyway.I am all for educating the ignorant!!

I think it's great. If you want to run an organized religion that is tax exempt, then you had better be 100% legit. That means transparent finances, actual charity, counseling, ect.

If you are trying to gain power or riches, you should be taxed out of existence. Don't want to have a background check? TAXED OUT OF EXISTENCE! Don't show up to court? TAXED OUT OF EXISTENCE!! Appoint or re-appoint a child molestor? TAXED OUT OF EXISTENCE!

Its complete bullshit that people like myself are struggling everyday to make ends meet, trying to get decent healthcare, getting taxed to the point of being on the endangered species list, while these "religious" charlatans get rich or live a rockstar lifestyle. I'm sick of it, and I hope the rest of the world starts feeling the same way.

I have a theory about Australians.

I think that spending centuries on a continent where virtually every form of wildlife actively wants to kill you has - via simple natural selection - bred people that simply have zero tolerance for bullshit (unlike, say, Americans, who seem to thrive on bullshit :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:).

In fact, if it weren't for said wildlife, I think I'd want to live there.
