spiritually sick

I thought of this today. When I first told a certain person I didn't believe the GB were the faithful slave, that person told me I was spiritually sick....even bought me flowers. I threw the vase away because I couldn't look at it without thinking how I was judged spiritually sick. I decided to do a quick search ( in JWorg ) Bible to see if the words spiritually sick or weak show up together in a Bible verse . I didn't go through all the pages where the word sick or sickness or weak showed up, but enough for me to be satisfied that the Bible doesn't use the term spiritually weak or sick together--but feel free to correct me if you know of a verse. It occurred to me it is a term the JW use in a judgmental way. I know they like the use the term to justify the way they hold judicial meetings ( James 5:14- which I always thought was referring to a literal illness. ) I just thought I would throw this out there. There is a lot of information in the literature about spiritual sickness and i couldn't find the term in the Bible.

The r&f are showing the same adoration of the GB as the Germans did with der fuhrer!

Disavowing our core article of faith was a dangerous move. Most other Witnesses would have brought a couple of Elders ... not a couple of flowers.

no-zombie--once the person determined they couldn't cure me, the person was going to call for the "specialist", to which I said not to bother that I would take care of it...so I wrote my letter of disassociation. I knew I would be ratted out, but I didn't like pretending to be in favor of the witness lies. Just a few days before what I have related, the person told me if we ever ended up in a consecration camp, they hoped we would be together because I had a better memory of scriptures- and I was thinking to self, if you only knew what I really think you would change your tune....so then it bothered me that this person within a few short days told me I was spiritually sick and brought me flowers. The flowers didn't last long, but the vase was pretty nice but I found no joy in any of it.

You're more 'spiritually healthy' than the lot of them. They're following men, you're using your ability to think.

You sound so honest you are extremely spiritually or emotionally healthy, to my way of thinking. I was always getting myself in trouble for being honest, too. What a crazy old world.

I hope you have friends now that value your good conscience and truthfulness!

    ENOUGHISENOUGH:

I think this is just another thing said to control rank & file JWs with guilt and self-doubt if they happen to disagree with anything or see something wrong..

So, if you or anybody else in the congregation is supposedly ‘spiritually sick’, does that make the elders (or whoever) ‘doctors’ to cure it? 🙄

I was considered ''spiritually weak'' by the elders after I came back to the meetings after being out for 2 years. They told me I needed a ''Bible study''. They thought by having a Bible study ( all the dirt I collected by being away from the meetings) would cleanse me and the congregation. They even had elders help me back to ''field service''.

They had me study a new book with a brother who just got out of Bethel. He would never show up. I told the elders that I didn't forget anything and having a Bible study was useless. They elders use the study to see where you're at as to the Society's control.

In 2004, I finally left! I feel the pressure is off my shoulders and don't have the heavy burdens the Society place on everyone's shoulders.

I was and am considered "Spiritually Weak or Sick" because I'm no longer easy fooled by Watchtower 's nonsense. I Question it.

@ enoughisenough: in the WT CD ROM Library there are no occurrences whatsoever of the terms 'spiritually weak' or spiritually sick' in the literature or the Bible, but approximately 150 references for 'spiritual sickness' & spiritual weakness' - in the literature only, not the Bible.
