Before my wife and I left, we considered faking it just to keep those around us happy. But we decided that is simply something we could not do. I wouldn't be able to fake it very well because I could no longer bring myself to have any "meaningful" participation: no comments at meetings, no service, etc. At best I would be considered a weak Witness. That's hardly any better than being inactive.

Hi folks,almost all of you don't know me,but i'm a 40 year veteran,now ex jw ok?When my evil exwife-jw and i split up in the mid 1990s things started to get crazy.I was threatend with DF if i left the hall and my ex!Soooooooooooo............while this nightmare was starting to play itself out,like me divorcing the jw exwife and leaving the cult,many.......................MANY in my jw family.................begged me to stay,but of course i could not take the mind games and stupidity anymore,so i did leave,and divorced her too,and i was DF............Well...........to my suprize..........CAN YOU BELEIVE THAT MY JW FAMILY ASKED ME TO COME BACK AND JUST FAKE IT????????????????????????????????????........WHAT IS THIS?????FAKE IT????............WOW....I NEVER THOUGHT THESE PEOPLE WERE THAT SPIRITUALLY BANKCRUPT..............WOW WHAT A BUNCH OF PHONNIES THEY WERE!..........FAKE THE TRUTH,HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM??????????.......SEE THAT IS EXACTELY WHY I'M NOT IN THERE RIGHT NOW,BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE LIES AND DECEPTIONS....My jw family,and the elders told me to just come back to the meetings for about 3 or 4 months and i would be reinstated to good standing again?????????????.................What is wrong with this picture?????????..........God,or LORD,or Jehovah............says in the bible ..........you must be perfect as i am perfect....let your yes mean yes,and your no no,for whatever is in excess,is from the wicked one...........is it not?Or do not be like your father the devil,the father of the lie.................SEE FOLKS..........FOR ME TO GO BACK AND FAKE IT IS WORSE THAN ALL OF THE WT LIES PUT TOGETHER.................No way Hose'.....................I could not beleive what my ears were hearing.....................as my own jw mother said to me,to just come back,get reinstated,then fall away again if i wanted.........WHAT?????......and when i showed her all of the false teachings in their,and all of the coverups.....do you know what she said then??????.......Do you want to be happy or right???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????.............What is this ?..........I TOLD HER THAT I'M HAPPY THAT I AM RIGHT,AND THAT I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO THE HALL AS LONG AS I LIVED.............NEVER..........AND I TOLD HER THAT,I WAISTED 50 PRECIOUS YEARS OF TIME....PREACHING BULL SHIT,AND BEING MANIPULATED BY FOOLS............AND THAT I WOULD NEVER LET ANYONE FUCK WITH MY MIND AGAIN AS LONG AS I LIVED..............NOT FOR ONE SECOND OF TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OK?.........So if any of you are thinking of faking it.......be my guest.....And as Elvis sang..........wize men say............only fools rush in...............!

I think starfish has a very importaint point. Your partner and child do not have the knowledge you have. There is a good chance they will be taken in by it. Then you could end up loosing them too. Faking would be very risky. I would not recommend it.
Even if your family will not speak to you, could you suggest they meet with your partner and child? It sounds harsh, but if you feel that it is really important for your child to know their family, perhaps this would be a better option than faking it.

Being immersed into the fantasy, entangled into the web of lies combined with communal pressure of the only world they know, their brains are in time so reprogrammed that in order to retain some normalcy they have to find a pleasure in "keep on keeping it" like a slave in a sweatshop finding pleasure in making her supervisor happy. It is almost impossible for them to understand that there is a life and happiness of different kind beyond confines of their barbwired world.

LOL, I know exactly what you mean. In fact one can say that after being through faked life with witnesses you quickly learn to put to the test how real something, anything really is before diving into it without anyone realizing just how easily (to use Biblical reference here) 'they have been weighed, they have been measured and have been found wanting'. Instead of using your acting skills to make them happy you can use it to test it all and get down to the real truth.
Why would anyone in their right mind want to go back is beyond me. -
