QUINCE - if you want to fade and to avoid an inquisition from your elders read this -

If you don't care what happens - because you have no family to lose - just carry on talking to the wolves who are out to get you, not help you!

You did very well. I can tell you from my experience, you can't teach the elders anything.

As you did in the beginning, you said they can only visit you if they write their points and only with one elder. They blatantly disregarded your wishes.

If I were you, I'd tell them if they want to meet again.

"Thank you elder xx for your concern. My personal faith and relationship to Jehovah and Jesus are very dear to me and PERSONAL, which I won't discuss with you. I will let you know if I feel the need to talk to you about it."

They gave me a caution on not independently studying the bible for that leads to apostasy.

This just amazes me. In their own belief system big J gave them his written word but His FDS tell you to be afraid to sit and study it because that will lead you away from the truth. That's just bizarre!

What do YOU want to do ?

If you want to continue going to meetings then I say use their words against them .During the RC hearings we all heard repeated that JW's believe in the practice of freedom of religion . They also say that no one is forced to worship their way .....So ,as long as you are not speaking to others ,and trying to draw others away with your questions and doubts ,then they are suppose to allow you to be inactive on your own grounds .

I am glad you brought up to them the point Geoffery Jackson made while under oath #1) The GB is not the ONLY spokesman for God on Earth ....

"Studying the Bible independently leads to apostasy."

    What does that tell you?

Instead of concluding that this shows there is something seriously wrong with the WT teachings, they conclude that there is something wrong with you.

And these are the LEADERS in the congregation!

    Very sad...

"Studying the Bible independently leads to Apostasy". That is why they discourage higher education. In other words if you study the Bible independently you will be confused, so much for God's Holy Spirit.....

    Just Wow!

I'm speechless at the way they are trying to manipulate you into submission. No facts or logic...just plain old bullying!

The elders won't be doing any research to help you with your questions.

Instead, they will be looking for evidence with which to disfellowship you.

If you produced irrefutable evidence that the WT is wrong about 1914, the FDS, etc., they wouldn't consider it.

@ quincemyles - I can certainly understand your caution and confusion. In all sincerity, like Searcher mentions, if you wish to continue attending meetings without any fellowship problems, then yes, please take the advice and cease questioning the elders. Sadly, the elders are not equipped spiritually to deal with the reality that the organization has implemented and continues to "go beyond what is written."

The elders, although perhaps having their own doubts, have to toe the line otherwise they themselves will find themselves relieved of their cherished elder position which the organization uses as a carrot.

However, if you really want to make these elders look like complete idiots. I can provide you with the following dialogue:

Considering the organization's record of setting and shedding "new light" and having to correct prophetic dates and seasons. Do the following scriptures apply to them Galatians 4:8-11; Acts 1:7; 1 Thessalonians 5:1, 2; and Deuteronomy 18:20-22? If no, why not?

And if by chance they make the claim that the organization has never said they speak for Jehovah as a prophet. Happily point them to the following articles:

    w55 5/15 p. 304 par. 12 Jehovah's Channel of Communication

    w64 2/1 p. 68 More Is Needed Than Bibles

    w67 9/15 p. 556 par. 9 God's Spirit and Word - Divine provisions for Life

w72 4/1 p. 197 They Shall Know That a Prophet Was Among Them

    w89 3/15 p. 21 Insight That Jehovah Has Given

And lastly, to put the nails in their coffin, cite them 2 Peter 1:21 and plainly state: "If the slave, while setting dates and speaking prophecies had actually been guided by holy spirit, they would have never been wrong."

If you wish to maintain your spirituality after you make the elders and anyone else look like the Pharisees, pray to God for guidance, I have no doubt he will sustain you through these very trying times.
