The Problem Around Here is

that some people seem to think they are the authority on everything and feel like they should always get the last word. I try not to get involved in the flaming that goes on around here by checking my ego at the door and thats not the reason for this post anyway, but it's my experience that all of, without exception, JW are like this. The perceived arrogance that they alone are in possession of the only truth seems to compell them to keep an argument going even when they are clearly on the losing side so that they can be sure to get the last word in.

Perhaps this is why the flame wars around here seem to be so long and protracted driving away members who would otherwise positively contribute to the board.

With that in mind I ask the board, do you sometimes feel like you just have to be the whose right.....the one who has to have the last word. Further, do you think this is a residual attitude left over from being members of the borg subject to the authority of the WT heirarchy who consistently demonstrated the same attitude?

Know this - soon the wicked man will be destroyed. A house divided against itself cannot stand. You obviously checked your brains in at the door along with your ego. What did you expect apostates to be like? Paragons of virtue and complaisity? The Watchtower was right when it likened apostate sites and literature to pornography. You're so hooked on it you can't quit looking at it, but you make the pretense of being disturbed by what, in reality, the Faithful Slave has warned against for decades now. LOL.

The only problem I saw around here is the desire of some to spread untruth about others. Other than that I kind of enjoy the open debate type of forum. It is a pleasant thing to see people that feel free to enjoy their freeness of speech-

    Out,

I think you make too much of our common religious heritage. I think you also stereotype the members of this community. We are not of the same mind when it comes to debate. Naturally, we have differing points of view and are willing to express them. That is healthy. Leads to very useful shared knowledge and experience. I recently have had a series of debates with people about the legitimacy of Dr. Bergman's book on JWs and mental illness. Before Bergman appeared here, there were those who attacked me rather viciously because I took exception with some of Bergman's assumptions. Now, when Berman arrived, our discussion between us was quite civil, and much of it was taken to private e-mail. As a result, Bergman and I remain good friends, and have no ill will towards each other. One of the reasons for this is that he and I share a common professional background. In our education, we were taught how to analyze a concept and shred it apart if it was deficient. However, in doing so, it was never considered proper to attack the originator of that concept.

I don't know how the rest of you feel about Know_You, but personally I don't give a good god damn what he/she/it thinks - if it thinks.

What he/she/it is in essence doing is intefering in a domestic dispute. And, as any cop will tell you, that is the very most dangerous place for a cop or anyone else to stick their nose.

Besides, this person's entire aura feels very familiar to me; how 'bout you?

To me, people are just using their freedom to speak. That does not make them right to others, but perhaps they feel right to themselves. That goes for everyone from the average Joe like myself to your well known Bill Bowen. Let everyone speak, question when you want and accept responses for what you consider them worth.

Enjoy your freedom and enjoy others.

    My thought
