Update on Jan (Zazu)

Things went pretty well today. My daughter was doing some laundry, underwear and such, for her mom, and she was a bit late to get me and her to the hospital. Hours start at eleven and we go there about noon. Lunch had not arrived, and for some reason, they had not given Jan a breakfast, coulda been the tests she had to take, I don't know. At any rate, lunch was late and my wife was very hungry, so my daugher went down stairs to the Wendy's right there in the hospital and got Jan some chili. Well, the chili and the lunch arrived at the same time. She ate all of the chili, most of the main dish, and the soup and chocolate pudding desert. I think that is a good sign.

During the day, Angharad and RedHorseWoman called her, and that meant a lot to her. I was there when miss Red called, but I didn't get a chance to talk to her. Yes, Red, you and Jan have similiar features - I did hear the conversation.

My grand daughter is very upset about the condition of GiGi, her name for Jan, but she is going to visit tomorrow afternoon. She has had some time to be prepared for GiGi being sick.

Jan showed me some tests they did regarding her physical strengths and weaknesses. Her hand strength is very good, indeed. She could probably arm wrestle me. Her lower body strength is not good, but it is improving. She has to still have someone help her when walking, but that is an improvement over yesterday, when she had to use a bed pan under her butt.

Well, I will probably be back tomorrow to give you an update. The biggest problem for my wife is being confined to a bed, when she wants to be in her house. She said to me and my kids, to form a plan and get her out of there.

    See you on the morrow,

    Larc,

Great news. Yes "form a plan and get her out of there", as soon as you safely can. There is no place like home and family at a time like this.

    Take care of yourself too.

Glad to hear she is doing better.

I agree, do your best to get her out of there. Family is the best of medicins.

    Hugs, Viv.

It's very good to hear things appear to be going well ... looks promising.

Angharad felt much better after speaking to her.

    Just2, and Viva,

I do know what you are saying. She does need family. One thing my daughter did today was to scotch tape some art from my grand daughter on the wall, so it would be more like home. Something I had not thought of, but someething that is very important for my wife. At the same time, my wife does need the medical specialists to make her well.

It is, indeed, a bitter - sweet time. The sweet part of it, is the quality of the medical staff, and the coming together of a family in a time of crisis.

Larc, I know. I have watched/helped two loved ones being nursed at home. It is hard on the rest of the family. But it is priceless for the one who needs the care. How about medical care at home? we have special programs for that, perhaps you do too?

Good luck and hugs to you.

    Viva,

Thank you so much for your concern. Yes, I would like to have her home as soon as possible. Please remember, that she has only been in the hospital for a day and a half. We really don't know the whole story yet.

So, in the mean time, we just have to try to figure out what the situation is, as it progressively changes, hopefully for the best.

    Larc,

Please give Jan my warmest regards. I hope to telephone soon and convey them myself.

I'm relieved to read that she is doing relatively well.
