Some here have been privy to certain scandals such as pedophilia in your congregation. We have never had such a scandal in our area that became well-known. One of the worst scandals I've heard was that of how 2 elders terrorized an entire congregation.ANYBODY that disagreed with them, was considered disloyal. Judicial meetings were set up with anyone that sided in with anyone the elders went after. They would be charged with "causing divisions". Then they would arrange for elders that were friends to sit in the appeal commitee. Eventually dozens and dozens were disfellowshipped because these 2 elders viewed such ones as "wicked". After a couple of years, the Society sent elders and Bethelites over to investigate why all these disfellowshippings were taking place. Finally, these 2 elders got removed with the condition that they would never serve again.

: WHAT'S THE WORST SCANDAL YOU KNOW OF?

When Jesus Christ proclaimed himself the "son" of God. That has caused more millions of deaths and misery than I even want to think about.

Second place winner: "Mohammed." (See "World Trade Center" for details.)

Distant runner-up: the mighty Watchtower Printing Corporation. First class killers in their own right.

An elder that owned a sand and gravel company that would screw everybody that he dealt with including his brothers and sisters. But, since he gave such good council and he mneant to do good, everybody used him, and recommended him

A very faithfull "sister" in my old congregation was beaten and very badly abused as were her children.

To keep a very long story very short, she moved out with kids to a place of safety, her husband was prohibited by the police and the courts from threatening, harming or going anywhere near her or the children.

A ministerial servant recieved a call from abusing husband, threatening to burn down the marital home and smash up all of her belongings that she had to leave behind in her haste to leave, if she were to take court action to remove him from the property (which she had every right to do)

Ministerial servant was joyous to be involved and be privvy to such scandalous information.

Abused sister was terrified and took the threats very seriously. She called the police and they indeed verified that he was in breach of his court order. With Abusing husbands' track record the police took the threats seriously too. In order to persue the matter they needed to speak to ministerial servant, naturally.

What do you suppose he did?...

    I'll tell you.

He denied the threats were ever made. He played down the seriousness of the allegations and changed the story completely.

How do I know who to believe in all of this? I believe the sister because when she eventually gained entry to her former matrimonial home (with a police escort)!....right by the phone was a tape recorder and on the tape was all of the recent phonecalls that Abusive husband had made including the one with Ministerial servant. I heard that tape and in the conversation MS was heard giving out the location of the sister, which for obvious reasons was confidential.

Update, M.S still serves in same cong desparate to become an elder.

Sister no longer attends meetings, neither do the children.

Abusive husband (who was not baptised) no longer attends meetings.

The Worst MISTAKE/SCANDLE ever is when the counsel of Nisa sat down and decided to make "The Word of God" ...failing to realize that the real "Word of God" and the ONLY "Word of God" is Christ (John1:1, John 1:14, John 17:17 John 14:6,revelation 19:13) Ever since then People have FAILED to "Test out the inspired expression" (1 John 4:1-4) and just taken the BIBLE as if it never had any "opinions" or "inexperienced teachings." All SCRIPTURES are inspired of God but not ever verse in the bible is a scripture. That is why we are told to "test out the inspired expression to see if it comes from God or not" (1 John 4:1-4) ...This "Disfellowship" thing going on for the past 2000 years...even with the catholic church and everything...is certianly not loving. Motive is everything...if someone is forced to get reinstated ebcause they lost their friends and family...that isn't repentance...that's just loosing family and friends...if they recieved all this back (family and friends)...they still would not be repentant. One must REPENT out of the goodness in their HEARTS in order to be truely repentant. But the disfellowshiping within itself is a LIE spread. Christ never shunned anyone...infact those that were thrown out of the synagogue and away from the Pharisees Christ went to them. Also John chapter 8:1-12 speaks abotu someone who was CAUGHT in th e ACT of adultery...and what was Christ's words? "Let he that is sinless be the first to throw a stone." Men cannot judge anyone or anything...and yet they still do...this has caused much turmoil and pain. I was disfellowshiped for reasons that make no sense. I was accused of apostasy yet disfellowshiped without a trial. "Let He that is sinless be the first to JUDGE ME"

Well, other than my sexual abuse by my father, a good friend of mine was beaten by her husband. The elders knew it. Talked to him, but never did anything else. He still hits her.

    Minimus writes:

“I think we should not make statements about what the Watchtower Society is secretly doing if we can not substantiate the statements.

“We do not know if a "Bethelite" is doing whatever he claims to be doing clandestinely. When we make threads or statements about things we have absolutely no proof of, we are making ourselves look bad.”

That is the remark to which I entered this discussion by responding to it.

Compare that with this sharing of information by Minimus:

“One of the worst scandals I've heard was that of how 2 elders terrorized an entire congregation.ANYBODY that disagreed with them, was considered disloyal. Finally, these 2 elders got removed with the condition that they would never serve again.”

And there we have it. Minimus suggests participants here should not make statements about things they have absolutely no proof of. Yet this is precisely the privilege Minimus has acted on more times that I care to count.

    As I said initially,

“I see no problem with a person sharing what they know Watchtower is doing is they know the information firsthand. The problem is that firsthand knowledge is not always verifiable. Hence, when it comes to sharing firsthand knowledge, I see nothing wrong with sharing information of what Watchtower is doing. In that case the reader must take the information for what it presents: alleged firsthand information that cannot otherwise be verified. In most instances I would say such information is not worth much, but if lots of alleged firsthand accounts are the same or nearly the same, and if the information is plausible based on information that is less than confirmation but suggest a probability, then such information becomes useful.”

Nowhere and at no time have I remotely suggested that any participant here share false information, as suggested of me by the idiot known here as Minimus.

Asking something of others that a person does not follow themselves is the behavior of an idiot, to put it nicely.
