Have any of you here, either by word of mouth or personal experience, heard of entire congregations being disfellowshipped, or nearly entire congregations, like say 50% or more?

thank you for your support in this all important survey

By word of mouth, I've heard of congregations being "disbanded," or dissolved w/ the publishers being assigned to other congs in the area... Not whole congs being df'd though...

this might work....we'll drop porno, alcohol, apostate material in the middle of KH's....that might get rid of a whole cong

Someone else on the board once suggested writing a SCATHING letter to Watchtower headquarters, and sign it with the names of one or two of the elders in your last congregation!! See what a little tempest in a teapot that might create.

    Zev,

Yes, I have heard of such a thing, from several fairly credible sources.

The "tainted" congregation was in Virginia, about ten years ago.

All elders removed, all publishers df'd, except for three little old dyed-in-the-wool pioneers-for -centuries- females . They conducted all of the meetings by themselves. (I can't even begin to imagine such a thing, nor do I want to...)

It was a case of their not "recognizing the brothers' authority" (bethel).

I have a better 'understanding' of what such crimes consist of as of late.

    Yuck, laura

    Hmmm...

    Let's say my folks?!?!?!

I dare say that might make for a dicey, yet memorable turn of events.

I heard of a congregation in Colorado about 20 years back that all signed a petition and sent to the WTS. The vast majority were DF'd.

    lol Gopher.

zev, i too have heard of congregations being "dissolved or disbanded" mainly done through a change in the "division of territory boundaries".

i have also heard of entire BOE's being removed.

I think the one in Texas was at Bonham (?) The comittee that held the Kingdom Hall, fought with the WT over who owned the hall in court. The comittee won the hall and most of the congregation went with them.

The WT built a new KH. and changed the elders. I imagine most of the congregation was disfellowshipped.

Ever since then the KHs are owned by WT.

I believe this information was posted on the board here before.
