We used to do that years ago, going to two different ones. I always loved the day, or two days, off when all the others from my Congo. were suffering.
In the end, before my fade started, we just didn't go at all. We weren't missed.family and "friends" just assumed we had attended, or that we had attended a whole Convention elsewhere.
The last D,C (now R.C) we attended was in 2006.
Just blow it out, and then bluff it out if need be.
