I have got to admit "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong IMO is truly one of the best songs of all time. It always never failed to put a lump in my throat. But then I have a very visual mind. I can put together a video in my head while listening to almost any song. Comes in handy during rush hour. Not too handy though when the traffic begings to move again .

I always thought the words at the end of "The Rose" were so beautiful. I wish I could remember them now.

There are so many great songs I will have to ponder this awhile

    The Rose

Some say love it is a river
    that drowns the tender reed
Some say love it is a razor
that leaves your soul to bleed

Some say love it is a hunger
    an endless aching need
I say love it is a flower
    and you it's only seed

It's the heart afraid of breaking
    that never learns to dance
It's the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance

It's the one who won't be taken
    who cannot seem to give
and the soul afraid of dying
    that never learns to live

When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been too long
and you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong

    Just remember in the winter

    far beneath the bitter snow
    lies the seed
    that with the sun's love
    in the spring
    becomes the rose

this formatting has a mind of its own

    *Goo Goo Dolls

*And I'd give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

*And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight

*And I don't want the world to see me
    Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

*And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything seems like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know your alive

*And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight

*And I don't want the world to see me
    Cause I don't think that they'd understand

Oh Cowboy great topic, but atlast I cannot abide by the rules you see there is NO WAY I could ever pick just one song as my all time favorite......my favorite song happens to be whatever I'm listening to at the time. ;)

I do like country music, does that count?

I also like the words of Eric Burdon in the song Monterey....."you want to find the truth in life, don't pass music by, and you know I would not lie....."

and to JanH........Queen.....anything by them is awesome! Can you guess what my favorite song by them is?

That said one of my favorite songs of late is by a group called Cake from their Comfort Eagle CD:

    "Short Skirt/Long Jacket"

    I want a girl

With a mind like a diamond

    I want a girl

    Who knows what's best

    I want a girl

    With shoes that cut

    And eyes that burn

    Like cigarettes

    I want a girl

    With the right allocations

    Who's fast and thorough

    And sharp as a tack

    She's playing with her jewelry

    She's putting up her hair

    She's touring the facility

    And picking up slack

I want a girl with a short skirt and a lonnnng jacket......

    I want a girl

    Who gets up early

    I want a girl

    Who stays up late

    I want a girl

    With uninterupted prosperity

    Who uses a machete

    To cut through red tape

    With fingernails

    That shine like justice

And a voice that is dark

    Like tinted glass

    She is fast and thorough

    And sharp as a tack

    She's touring the facility

    And picking up slack

I want a girl with a short skirt and a lonnnnng.... lonnng jacket

    (Instrumental break)

    I want a girl

    With a smooth liquidation

    I want a girl

    With good dividends

    And at the city bank

    We will meet accidentally

    We'll start to talk

    When she borrows my pen

    She wants a car

    With a cupholder arm rest

    She wants a car

    That will get her there

    She's changing her name

    From Kitty to Karen

    She's trading her MG

    For a white Chrysler LeBaron

I want a girl with a short skirt and a lonnnnggggggggg jacket

    Enjoy!

bc<<wears short skirts and long jackets :)
