Glad this board has helped you "deprogram", spider.

Keep up the good view of yourself. That's a real good beginning.

    Hugs,

    Joy

Glad to hear you are feeling better about things ,Mike. I feel like you do, this board and the people here are like therapy to me. I honestly don't know if I would have had the courage to stay away from the borg without everyone here. I have been away a year now, raised in it , so it was and is a big adjustment. But WOW, this is what real life is all about??? I like it, I like it alot!!!!!

Mike, aren't you from Louisiana? If so, so am I, my hubby is Wild Turkey. We are close to Shreveport , if I am remembering correctly you are from New Orleans??? Hope you can make it to the Dallas Apostofest......( let the good times roll!!!!!!!!!!!)

This Apostate salutes you! You are now officially an Apostate in Good Standing (TM)!

Glad to hear you got over the drinking, as long as you control the drinking and it doesn't control you you'll be OK man!

Awesome news Spider. I also drank and smoked myself into a fantasy world for years before I was able to pull myself out of that funk. Good job though on your part. I'm glad we had a little something to do with your turn around.

Great post Spiderdude, thanks for sharing. I hope you can stay off the hooch!

Addiction comes in myriads of forms. One of the best books I've read is called "Addiction and Grace". Check it out on Amazon if you're interested, it is great stuff. I was sort of a doper before I became a Watchtowerist. Cult involvement is an addiction all its own. Then, when the WT stopped working, porn was next. I am glad to say that I am free of my addictions, it is wonderful, but also very difficult sometimes. Addiction is a shelter from reality, and reality ain't always pretty, no wonder so many try to escape via booze, religion, porn, dope, success, etc.

The WT wants all of us "apostates" to walk around feeling like prisoners on death row who are running out of appeals.

    F*ck you Watchtower.

Thank you Spider, for the boost your experience has given all of us.

I am really very happy for you. Welcome to reality.

You are a warrior and a hero.

The truth cannot be bought sold, bartered or traded. Those who would sell it do not have it. Neither can it be taught, given, or bestowed.

    It can only be lived."

Thanks for the positive feedback SpiderMonkey.

I have a similar story but probably the opposite way round - since starting this forum I have been drinking more and more and now the only way to cope is to be sozzled most of the time. You couldn't send me the drink you don't need anymore could you?

    Just kidding folks.

Lyin' & WildTurkey, I was going to go to the Dallas apostofest, but my immediate supervisor who is a dork and a weasel (not the abovementioned boss who is really cool), won't give me the time off ... I will try & catch the next one...

    (((((((((((((((((((((NATHAN)))))))))))))))))))))))))

I love you, man! You are the wind between my cheeks!
