  I did not say it was common knowledge. It is, however, common knowledge among power users, and of course IT people. Kent, for example, has no education whatsoever in computing, and never worked in the IT business.

  No mention is made of them in the window manual. Indeed, there is NOT ONE reference to them even in the Win98 or Win2k help file (don't have XP at work, but I bet no mention is made there, either).

  *Cough*. When using IE, press F1. Go to Index, "cookies". There you are.

  I'm off to buy a copy of Windows for Dummies to see what other stuff I've been missing out on all these years

  In the meantime, I think if we keep at it here then we are just going to make things worse.

  In the interest of peace I will apologise to Kent and accept that he was merely making helpful suggestions about Internet usage in general. Also, I apologise to JanH for any offence I may have cause him.
