P.S. Bush won get over it.

You sound more like a cocky teenager publicly praising his cheated victory rather than addressing the issues at hand.

    I said:

Considering the mere coincidence that his BROTHER Jeb Bush is Governor of Florida, and out of ALL 50 states, that was where the disputed ballots occurred...

    HMM. Makes one wonder.

Then consider that the Judges on the Supreme Court who found in favor of Bush in the trial:

    Gore v Bush

over the disputed ballot scandal were appointed by his DADDY.

HMM. Still a coincidence? But theres more.

Then when you consider the Electoral College system was implemented over 200 YEARS AGO and is obsolete (like most Republican ideologies, but that is my opinion) and that over 1 MILLION MORE AMERICANS voted FOR Al Gore... and all along they preach "Your Vote Counts.."

Hogwash. Those 1,000,000+ voices who voted MORE for Al Gore didnt mean diddly squat.

Are you denying any of the facts that the disputed ballot state was conveniently the same state his brother was Governor? Or that Al Gore had over 1,000,000+ MORE votes? Or that members of the Supreme Court who voted in Bush's behalf were appointed by his Daddy?

Im stating facts, your merely rubbing my nose in it.

    Yeru:

    Panda,
Nice to see that someone else gets it.

As if because some of the rest of us disagree with you we are incapable of comprehending your point.

    another gem:

    Gweedo,
I can always count on you to take the Liberal (read WRONG) side of a discussion.
Again that is a matter of your opinion whether you choose to view the world from a conservative or liberal perspective regarding politics. But to brandish another as:
    WRONG
simply because they disagree with you on politics is to march in the ways of one-sided thought and tyranny and entirely unacceptable.

I thought you were in the military fighting for freedom? So which is it?

    Baja-

Im an American citizen, but I will address some of your statements.

    1. If we hadn't taken on the role of supercop, you and I would probably speak Russian very well.
Yes I know, in thier own arrogance some Americans believe it is only they and their country capable of winning a war of controlling the course of history. Patriotism is one thing, arrogant ignorance is another.

    2. I feel we're stuck playing supercop for a while, I don't believe we have much choice for now. Reborn2002, do you own a car? Do you need oil and gas to get back and forth to work? Do you think your job or business depends upon a stable world?
Yes, I own a car. No, I do not need oil and gas to get back and forth to work, as I now work less than a block away from my apartment. Yes I somewhat believe my job would depend on a stable world. I see where your going with the direction of these questions, and how you intend to apply them to how the United States is somehow all responsible for the rest of the world. The world existed for thousands of years before the United States was a vision in any of the Founding Father's eyes. Barring nuclear holocaust, it would exist long after as well. Yes nuclear war is a possibility, but the United States should not play global peacekeeper at the expense of millions of Americans. Isnt it time the rest of the civilized world picked up some of the slack?

    3. If not us, who else would step up to the plate?
Enter US arrogance once again, that only the United States has the capacity or ability to intercede, and nothing else in the entire world composed of hundreds of other countries can be accomplished without American intervention.
    4. It's humorous to me, that you believe our government, is responsible to hand out our money we've earned. Then redistribute it to people who haven't lifted more than a finger to cash their government check. Redistribution of wealth is socialism, no matter if it's on a state, national or international level.
Happy you find it funny. Those waiting for 2 or 3 years tied up in litigation while pursuing Social Security Disability because they are physically handicapped I am certain do not find it as humorous. All the while visas and financial aid are granted for total foreigners to enter the United States to be research scientists or engineers, while the government in some cases neglects its own born-and-raised citizens. Or what about the United States sending billions of dollars to Israel, Afghanistan, and the like? It is not the common United States citizen's responsibility to provide shelter, food, and education for other nation's people. Yet thats where billions of taxpayer dollars go.

The rich bureacrats and corporate moguls live like kings.. especially those chummy-chummy with good ole Dubya and Cheney. (read Enron being Bush #1 campaign contributor, and several former Enron employees being in Bush's Energy Cabinet... yet he knew nothing? Gimme a f&%$##ing break)

I am NOT a Democrat either, so dont give me some flaming post accusing me of not being Republican or for being pro-Gore. Again these are my opinions here. Although I am sure as Yeru states so convincingly, I just dont:

    get it

I was wondering though, what do you believe the U.S. should do to protect ourselves and our allies against terrorism?
In the short term, military action works. In the long term, finding the roots of terrorism and aleviating them, i think, is the thing to do. Fundamentalism often grows in poverty and ignorance.

The move to a one world paradigm may do much, in the long term, to break down barriers of thought. An east-west cross polination will occur between china at one end of the spectrum, and the US at the other. All countries in between these two poles will be affected. In china, group think is the norm. In the US, hyperindividualism is the norm. Likely a hegelian thesis/antithesis/synthesis is in the near future. While the changes will cause social stresses, in the long run, terrorism will likely be reduced. My theory, anyway.

Hm. Do you realize where US science (and therefore, the nation's economic and military power) would be today without scientists "imported" from other countries? It's only in the best self-interest of the US to get foreign researchers into the country. Research scientists are a HUGE asset, not a burden.

Plus, I find it quite comical that people seem to think US foreign policy is too altruistic, or altruistic at all. The US is primarily acting in its own interest, short-term or long-term. Which is quite fine with me, as long as I don't happen to be in the gunsights of the US military. Or as long as I don't happen to work in an industry that's being sanctioned by trade restrictions of the world's self-proclaimed champions of free, unrestricted trade :-)
