gil - it isn't called 'making a living'. It's called 'gambling' and for a good reason. You are being lured by illusion.

The people here care about you. No one is going to encourage you to take a road that is a dead end. (and it would be a dead end for anyone)

    Please reconsider.

    Gil,

In case you don't understand it, let me explain the difference between playing, say, poker against a machine and one or more human players. Card games are pretty algorithmic. Given the knowledge you have, certain strategies are optimal. Statistically, if you follow these strategies, you will win against those who don't.

Now, if you're up against good players, not to mention professionals, the opponents will always play optimally. Most likely, much better than you. But this is something you can learn; the technical side of it. That is really not an issue. You can read books telling you what to do. After some years and after spending lots of $$$ losing, you will know the games intimately.

The difference between bad players, good players and the best players -- the only winners -- is the psyche. It is sticking to a strategy, and not letting emotion run away with them during the heat of play. Much, much harder than you think. Also, as everyone knows, it is reading your opponents. This requires extreme talent, skill and dedication.

Also add the fact that when you play in a casino, not even poker is a zero sum game. Some of the stake money goes to the casinos. So, the expected return on your investement is negative, and that is assuming you are an average professional gambler.

When you go to Vegas, have a look at the massive palaces where the casinos are. They are built from the money left there by millions of losers. Do you feel like contributing to this wealth, and also to the small group of professional gamblers who actually make a living there? Then, by all means, go ahead and do it.

gil, my bro-in-law lives and works in Vegas...he says you cannot make a living there gambling. What happens is that a "few" people walk in and gamble and win it big, but for the most part...it is a no go.

    gil, you said

    Thanks for the encouragement guys.
    SCREW ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently you do not want to hear what most of us tell you. Get a grip man... a life of chance, is just that... a chance.

If you wanted us to agree with you and say "It is ok gil for you to "gamble" your money away... go for it!!!" I think you have come to the wrong forum.

We have all been duped, and duped you are, unless you are well "equipped".

Gil, do yourself a favor and make money the honest way. Don't leave it up to chance. In an instant you can lose everything.

My advice - go there and bet with $50 - if you end up with $270 then you've proved it can be done, then gradually increase your stake.
Only gamble with money you can afford to lose.

Gil, you ask the forum what they thought of your chances in gambling. They told you and then you told them to screw themselves. I'm trying to find the logic to your answer. Did you really expect them to say yes, go ahead, and good luck?

For me personally, do as you please. I have a brother that is/was a gambler and he 'eventually' lost more ways than one/won. He was a thief and a liar. Due to a serious industrial accident his full bloom activity of gambling has been curtailed.

There are a number of professional gamblers on the Vegas circuit, these professionals are closely monitored and politely told never to return to their casino.

It is your life. You make the choice and suffer the consequences be it winning or losing. Just don't tell me to screw myself, you asked. I play Keno with $10.00 as my limit. In the event I'm winning, I use the houses money.
