Perceptive posts above, especially the O.P, I had not thought of it exactly this way before.

I still maintain my belief that over the next ten years it will not increase the conversion rate, but close analysis after ten years may well prove that it slowed the decline in the conversion rate.

Certainly any who become JW's because of the Web Site will be either dumb or dumber, thus lowering the intellectual level of the whole thing even more, but the guys who run the Scam are only interested in $$$, not having an intelligent flock.

A 30 second prime time tv ad would surely have more of an impact.

    What stops them....money ??!!!

@galaxie of course not. Overhere we have at least 20 national tv stations that compete with eachother. That means that every station has just a small share of all viewers and it means that only a small share of viewers would be reached.

Secondly who says that the 30 second clip would get their attention?

During this first two weeks i already heard a lot of my non-jw aquaintances talking about getting this JW.ORG tract. Most of them got it at their doorstep instead of in the mailbox. This means it got their attention 100%,.. someone in person showed up and gave it to them accompanied with some friendly words. Much more impact than a 30 second clip.

Besides getting a 30second clip on air in 239 countries during prime time would be a waste of a lot of money. This campaign does not go on for 30 seconds but 30 days,.. 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week on many loacations around the world.

    Its a brilliant move

Ever heard the expression "guilty pleasure"?

Many wouldn't welcome the Witnesses at their home for a bible study, or spend five minutes talking with them about religious topics, nor even accepting literature for fear of them coming back or others seeing it and mocking them. However ... just like online porn, curiosity over 'exotic' or 'polemic' religions may well be many people's "guilty pleasure" that they can indulge themselves in the privacy (and secrecy) of their homes.

I think that's what the WTS is counting on.

More: I think it won't be long until the jw.org is geared up as a platform to conduct online bible studies with interested visitors. "Would you like to study the bible online? One of our assistants is available right now to discuss one of the following topics with you, or you can enter your own bible question on the box below." .............

I don't agree with the OP.

I think is a complete failure. And is so evident among them that until now they don't published no ONE experience about someone reaching to The Troof through the website.

They made up a lot of experiences about Andre, why not made up just ONE about the website?

Because even they know it's a complete failure.

And it's not like Youtube because people on internet likes to speak up, to interact and the JW.org is all about listen and obey. Even if they get some "guilty curiosity" about the JW's, people will search some forum to get personalized answers. Nobody online agree 100% of something why expect that with JW.org?

The impact of tv advertising is immense, why would exponents of it spend multi millions otherwise?

The borg are free to utilise this method with however many tv stations as they wish, who would refuse their money?

They are after all ' advertising gods kingdom '.

If they are truly sincere in their goal , why don't they use a proven medium which other 'big businesses' take advantage of with proven success?

    Best wishes.

yes--i agree--i made a similar comment to this yesterday: its a way of filtering those that are really interested and receptive--and gives far more control if the online assisstant is carefully trained-----instead of the average brain-dead dub out there door knocking.

this whole thing could have a high rate of success--time will tell.

@Galaxie you asked: "The impact of tv advertising is immense, why would exponents of it spend multi millions otherwise?"

Answer: Maybe beause they dont have 8.1 million salesmen in 239 countries that bring their message in person to the doorstep of people for free !

Yes I agree..I wonder if the 8 million have realised they are being used as unpaid salesmen to prop up the coffers of ' mother '

    Best wishes
