Personally I don't agree with the concept of "playing by [anyone's] rules". It's your attitude about the religion that determines whether you are under their influence or not. Even someone who is DFed for speaking out against certain practices or doctrines and attends their JC, but will not passively accept being shunned or seek reinstatement, is not "playing by the rules".
If you are sufficiently brave, though, GonzoX makes a good point about sending the letter to other publishers. It may be your last chance to plant a seed of TTATT with any other JWs before they consider you an apostate and start shunning you.
