If you were on your death bed, what is the ONE thing you would say you have learnt ?
I would tell anyone who cared to listen, never give up. When you live through despair there is something amazing on the other side of it. It is peace. It surprised the hell out of me.
What a lovly opportunity to say " i never utterd my real feelings about anything, but i always loved you"
To those I was related to I would say my genetics in your genes will be there haunting you.

Take nothing at face value
Never be afraid to ask "Why" , or get them to prove it..
And, as Dylan said....
